There are prospect camps, team camps, grassroots events, and more that players can be found at. There are some athletes from Michigan that are playing very high quality basketball so far in June. Let’s look at some of the players that are heating up in June.
Bryce O’Mara Bryce O’Mara 6'7" Grand Blanc Community S | 2024 MI (2024, PF, Grand Blanc)
O’Mara made his mark at the Purdue – Fort Wayne Team Camp. He showed that he could be on the verge of a huge season as one of the most talented forwards i the state. O’Mara stood out for his work on the glass and his defensive prowess. He has a chance to be a force on both ends in December.
Trey McKenney Trey McKenney 6'4" | CG Orchard Lake St. Mary's | 2025 State #27 Nation MI (2025, CG, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s)
Is anyone in Michigan really surprised about this? If you ask me, McKenney is a top 20 2025 prospect in the country. Feel free to screenshot that for a few years from now. He was at the Crossroads Elite Camp and may have the best and highest upside player and performer in the gym.
Jacob Pleyer Jacob Pleyer 6'3" | PG Watervliet | 2026 State MI (2026, PG, Watervliet)
Pleyer showed that he could on the verge of a very special next 4 years. At the Albion College Team Camp, he was making plays with the pass as well as with his usual dynamic scoring. Pleyer was a highlight player and a head turner at the Ferris State camp as well. I think we should get very used to his name.
David Thomas David Thomas 6'2" | SF Heritage | 2023 State MI (2023, SF, Heritage)
Thomas showed some real upside last fall. He was an athletic rim runner with a lot of raw talent. It’s easy to see that he’s been putting in work with Dell Johnson this June. Thomas is showing greatly improved ball handling skills and confidence putting it on the floor. These improvements will allow him to create on his own in the open floor.
Noah Vanlaningham Noah Vanlaningham 5'10" | SG Mattawan | 2024 State MI (2024, SG, Mattawan)
Vanlaningham was recently at Grand Valley State University and was lights out while he was there. He posted eye popping games, dropping 31 points and 27 points. Vanlaningham seems to rise up the rankings faster than we can update them. This young man works very hard on his craft and is definitely filling his potential through his dedication to being in the gym.
MJ Yeager MJ Yeager 5'10" | PG Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central | 2024 State MI (2024, CG, Nouvel Catholic Central)
Let’s face the facts, Yeager is an elite 3 point shooter in the state of Michigan. He showed those shooting and scoring skills at the Saginaw Valley State University Team Camp. Yeager had 31, 34, and 17 point games at the event. He’s leaving little to no doubt that he’s a next level shooter that can fill it up with a hand in his face.
