The rising Sophomore class have been making a name for themselves this AAU spring and several new names have come on our radar. Here’s a look at some 2025 prospects boosting their stock this spring.

[player_tooltip player_id="1428320" first="Briar" last="Griffin"], Bowling Green - Bowling Green has to replace 2022 Mr Basketball [player_tooltip player_id="801586" first="Turner" last="Buttry"] and Griffin will likely get a crack at it early in his Sophomore season. Briar is a very crafty lead guard who knows how to run a team and pick his spots when he looks for his own offense. Griffin may not be the next Buttry but he’s shown he can create for himself and others.

[player_tooltip player_id="1252215" first="Griffen" last="Derry"], Dixie Heights - Derry had a huge game at the KBC State Tournament where he scored over 40 in a tight loss to Power Circle and earned praise as a lights out shooter. Dixie will be in the mix for the 9th region title next season and Griffen should be a rotation player for them as a 3 point specialist.

[player_tooltip player_id="1418231" first="Santonio" last="Waide"], Woodford County - Speaking of Power Circle, Waide has been a consistent double figure scorer for them all spring. He’s shifty and quick which allows Santonio to get into the paint and score or kick to open teammates. Woodford should be a factor in the 8th region for the next few seasons and their 2025 class is absolutely loaded.

[player_tooltip player_id="1111948" first="Austin" last="Sperry"], Breathitt County - Austin has been among the top scorers in the mountains for a few seasons now and has been making a name for himself on the 15u EYBL with Team Thad this spring. He’s an explosive athlete who has had a couple of really nice dunks this spring. Moving from 2024 to 2025 looks like it’s paying dividends for Sperry in the long run.
