Tough as nails, Griffin is a high IQ player who has a great motor and is capable of sitting down and guarding his position. Briar is a good facilitator who is used to being a secondary option on offense so he rarely forces any bad shots.

Playing without their two Division I commits, Griffin gave excellent effort for a Butler County squad that hung tough until the final stretch of action. A utility guard, Griffin talks on defense and makes a lot of hustle plays. Without the two leading scorers for Butler County, Griffin had to take on more of a scoring role with a handful of 3-pointers off kickouts and in transition. I also liked a couple finishes Griffin had at the rim, including one with his left hand in traffic. Without their two main guys, Griffin and Trevor DeWeese stepped up on Saturday and made plays.

Griffin is one of the more solid point guards in the entire state. Rarely sped up and almost never turns it over, Briar is the type of point guard that colleges should covet since he knows how run a team and doesn’t force his offense, even though he could average 20 per game if he wanted to.

Came away impressed with Griffin’s discipline defensively. Seemed to always be in the right spot off the ball which allowed him to jump passing lanes. He always had his teammates back on drives. Had great closeouts with high hands. Guys struggled getting by him.

Staying in the western part of the state, Griffin is likely to earn quite a bit of playing time for Bowling Green this season. Briar is the closest thing the Purples have to a Turner Buttry replacement next season at the guard spot.
