Continue ReadingI continue my coverage from the Under Armour Classic by looking at the Small Forwards that impressed during Saturday and Sunday’s action. The 5 guys I will discuss below have a lot of upside and are specifically looking like D3 prospects at the collegiate level. With further development, these could be names to follow into the Winter as well.
Jack Ullom Jack Ullom 6'5" | SF Mason | 2023 State OH (2023) Mid Ohio Pumas -Price (Mason)
Ullom brings length on the wing for a Pumas team with several talented guards. Against Nova Village’s UA Rise team, Ullom shot the skin off of the ball in both midrange and perimeter shooting. The Mason product has some under the radar athleticism and showed it off competing with Nova and their scholarship talent. I like how he plays and think his style matches what Mason likes to do in the GMC.
Na’Varion Adams Na’Varion Adams 6'5" | C Westerville North | 2024 State OH (2023) Nova Village-Turner (Walnut Ridge)
Adams was the best athlete competing last weekend and was a major player for Nova-Turner in their championship run. The 6-foot-6 SF uses his elite bounce on both ends of the floor, but specifically as a rim protector. Contested multiple shots and pinned a few balls off the backboard as well. Capable of catching alley oops with his hands and leaping ability. Very high ceiling prospect.
Jason Inbody Jason Inbody 6'5" | PF Olentangy Berlin | 2023 State OH (2023) Ohio United (Olentangy Berlin)
Inbody is part of an Ohio United team that truly is focused on fundamental basketball and play well together. Inbody himself was one of the more fundamentally sound prospects on that team. His stockier frame will allow him to be a target for D3 programs looking for a solid prospect
Jackson Mikota (2023) NeXT-Bailey (Olentangy Liberty)
Mikota was a new name I had not seen before Sunday. His performance against an Adidas Gold team was enough to catch my attention. His off-ball movement and understanding of spacing was solid as was his work on the offensive end of the floor. While he wasn’t the most athletic player, he still found ways to put the ball in the bucket for his NeXT team. Could even transition to a PF with his skill with back to the basket should he add some muscle to his frame.
Cooper Brown (2023) Mid Ohio Pumas -Price (Milton-Union)
Brown has a defensive tenacity that impressed me for the Pumas in their win against UA Rise Nova Village. His on-ball defense is impressive as is his overall coverage in help side. Brown has a sense of toughness he brings when he plays defense that I don’t see in a ton of prospects. His offensive game is still coming around, but overall he can put the ball in the bucket, just not as a primary scoring threat. With time I think he’s looking like a D3 level prospect.
