The 2025 rankings are out.

We dive into the positional rankings. We now look at the combo guards for the freshman class.

Here are the top-6 CG’s in the 2025 class:

[player_tooltip player_id="1231510" first="Marcus" last="McDonald"] Eduprize (Pictured)

A young freshman with good size for a scoring combo guard. He has long arms to defend and good quicks plus scores it. He moves without the ball to find open spots to shoot the three and with the ball he works well off the pick and roll game. He will be playing in the FIBA CentroBasket tournament in Puerto Rico for Jamaica in June. He averaged 18ppg on 16U in the 1st live period.

[player_tooltip player_id="1334752" first="Caden" last="Bass"] Peoria

A bigger combo guard has legit size already for position and is most likely not done growing. He is a very good defender already on the varsity team. He handles the ball well and has good court vision. He works best from mid-range and he can make the catch-3.

[player_tooltip player_id="1150852" first="DeNali" last="McNeal"] Canyon View

A scoring guard is a good passer but he is best currently putting the ball in the basket. He avg 10.2 ppg on varsity including an impressive 20 versus Millennium. He finds ways to get to the basket with a smooth handle and he can hit perimeter jumpers as well. He defends at a good rate with his 2.3 steals per game (#1 freshman in 5A) using his quick hands and feet.

[player_tooltip player_id="1369213" first="Amare" last="King"] Casteel

A defensive minded guard uses his length to play the passing lanes. He hits the three, he can get into the lane with a nice handle and will consistently drive and kick it to a shooter almost to a fault. An extremely unselfish player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1193887" first="Rhys" last="Walcott"] Eastmark

A natural three level scorer is a little undersized but he is a shot maker. He rises high above the ground and will score with defenders on him from mid to the 3pt line. He is also a sneaky good passer. When opposing coaches look at the film, it's Rhys they try to stop first.

[player_tooltip player_id="1150844" first="Quincy" last="Everson"] Millennium

A similarly built combo guard with Rhys is Quincy. He has good strength and he can shoot it from mid to the 3pt line. He comes off the bench on varsity and fires away. He plays at a good pace and can make plays as well. He does a lot of things well.
