The 6-2 point guard was strong in the Bulldogs opening-round win over Danville on both ends of the floor, finishing with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. He sees the floor really well and does a good job penetrating the defense, making them collapse, and then either finishing at the rim or finding an open teammate. He moves his feet well defensively and has the size to defend multiple perimeter spots.
2022 Jackson Mueller (Bellevue)
Mueller played a stellar game in his last time out as a Comet, finishing with 22 points on 7-16 shooting (4-8 3P) to go with 14 rebounds and 2 assists. A 6-4 stretch-4, he showed his range knocking down a number of big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and in overtime and he was fantastic on the offensive glass, pulling down 6 offensive rebounds as part of his 14 boards in total. His non-stop motor and fearless attitude nearly helped lead his team to what would have been considered a major upset.
2023 Daniel Tobiloba Daniel Tobiloba 7'0" | C Grand View Christian | 2023 State IA (Grand View Christian)
The athletic 7-footer isn’t asked to do much for the Thunder on the offensive end, but he makes an incredible impact on the defensive end of the floor every night, and that was on full display in their overtime win over Bellevue. He finished with 9 points, 19 rebounds, and 9 blocks in the win, and his presence in the paint alters the way that any team is going to attack the Thunder.
2022 Dylan Kurt Dylan Kurt 6'3" | SF North Linn | 2022 State IA (North Linn)
The 6-2 guard was hyper-efficient in the Lynx’s blowout win, finishing with 19 points on 7-10 shooting (3-5 3P). He has a quick release on his jumper and extended range, and he showed good instincts and timing while jumping passing lanes and turning 3 steals into easy buckets for the Lynx on the other end of the floor.
2022 Austin Hilmer Austin Hilmer 5'10" | PG North Linn | 2022 State IA (North Linn)
Hilmer was his usual self, flying all over the floor on both ends of the floor en route to 13 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals. He’s one of the fastest players in the state with the ball in his hands and is one of the most creative passers out there. He has excellent court vision and looks to push the tempo whenever he can, always looking for that push-ahead pass and an easy bucket for his teammates.
2023 Tate Haughenbury Tate Haughenbury 6'5" | PF North Linn | 2023 State IA (North Linn)
It doesn’t get much more efficient than what the 6-4 forward did on Monday afternoon, finishing with 18 points on 8-8 shooting and 2-2 from the free-throw line along with an eye-popping 7 steals. He provided a few highlight reel plays turning steals into high-flying dunks. He’s an excellent finisher around the rim and an athletic rim-runner who uses his length effectively on the defensive end of the floor.
2022 Carter Schorg Carter Schorg 5'9" | PG Remsen, St. Mary's | 2022 State IA (St. Mary’s)
Playing in his third state tournament as a key contributor, Schorg looked comfortable on the floor at Wells Fargo Arena and delivered an excellent game on both ends of the floor for the Hawks, finishing with 20 points on 6-11 shooting (3-4 3P, 5-5 FT), 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. He has a quick, smooth release on his jumper and does an excellent job keeping opposing ball-handlers in front of him defensively, utilizing his length.
2023 Koleson Evans Koleson Evans 6'6" | SF West Harrison | 2023 State IA (West Harrison)
It was a rough state tournament debut for the Hawkeyes, but the 6-6 Evans showed some potential as a future stretch-4, showing pretty form on his jumper and knocking down three 3-pointers en route to 15 points. He provides good size and length and is a really good shooter who can get his shot off whenever he wants.
2023 Zach Lutmer Zach Lutmer 6'1" | PG Central Lyon | 2023 IA (Central Lyon)
There are some shades of Cooper DeJean in Lutmer’s game. A 6-2 lead guard with eye-popping athleticism, Lutmer makes everything on the hardwood look easy, just like he does on the football field. He’s able to get to his spots whenever he wants, he’s a menace on the defensive end with his quickness, and he’s an excellent finisher around the rim. He sees the floor as well as anyone and is a creative passer who loves to get others involved. He played an efficient game, finishing with 16 points on 5-10 shooting (6-8 FT), 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in helping lead the Lions to their first state tournament win.
2022 Mason Gerleman Mason Gerleman 6'0" | SG Central Lyon | 2022 State IA (Central Lyon)
Gerleman set the tone early in the Lions’ win, netting 12 points in the first quarter en route to a game-high 18 points on 5-7 shooting (7-8 FT), 6 rebounds, and an assist. He moves well off the ball and has a quick release on his shot. His constant off-ball movement and cutting puts a ton of pressure on the defense and he showed that he can impact the game in ways other than just shooting the rock.
2022 Eric Mulder Eric Mulder 6'8" | PF Pella Christian | 2022 State IA (Pella Christian)
The future IPFW big man was absolutely dominant in the painted area on both ends of the floor in the Eagles win, finishing with 18 points on 9-12 shooting and 20 rebounds. He’s an incredibly mobile big man who runs the floor extremely well, contests shots without fouling, and is an elite rebounder. He has fantastic hands and is a great athlete who does an excellent job high-pointing the ball and snatching any rebound that is in his area. Offensively, he showed good touch around the rim with either hand and solid footwork.
2022 Levi Schelhaas Levi Schelhaas 5'9" | PG Pella Christian | 2022 State IA (Pella Christian)
A quick 5-9 scoring guard, Schelhaas had an excellent game for the Eagles, particularly with his work in the mid-range game. He hit a number of pull-up mid-range jumpers, stopping on a dime and elevating into his shot. He was also clutch at the free-throw line down the stretch, going 11-12 from the stripe in the game, including 9-10 in the final 1:16 to ice the game away.
2023 Jonovan Wilkinson Jonovan Wilkinson 6'2" | SF Roland-Story | 2024 State IA (Roland-Story)
Wilkinson is an athletic and long 6-2/6-3 wing who showed his ability to stuff the stat sheet in the Norsemen’s loss to Pella Christian, finishing with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. He has a good feel for the game and doesn’t force anything. He is a good ball-handler who can get to his spots and he does a good job using his frame to create a little extra space to get his shot off. He was an efficient 7-13 from the floor and he’s a versatile defender with his length and quickness.
