Who to Watch in SCISA Class 1A?
Could this be the year of the Cathedral Academy Generals? Head Coach Blake Ferguson has plenty of weapons to make a run with sophomore RJ Simmons RJ Simmons 6'0" | PG James Island | 2024 State SC , Montreal Jenkins Montreal Jenkins 5'8" | PG James Island | 2024 State SC , Kai Murdock Kai Murdock 6'5" | SF Wando | 2024 State SC and Anthony Washington Anthony Washington 6'1" | SG Cathedral Academy | 2022 State SC .
Will Clarendon Hall get back in them mix after missing out of the fun last season. The Saints had previously won the 2019 and 2020 State Championships. Kylic Horton Kylic Horton 6'5" | PF Clarendon Hall | 2022 State SC a University of South Carolina football signee is back for one last week of basketball. Horton recently joined the 2,000 points club in a win over Jefferson Davis Academy. Horton stands at 2,003 points currently in his career.
Holly Hill Academy could be the last team standing in Class 1A this year. Jabari Sumpter Jabari Sumpter 6'7" | PF Holly Hill Academy | 2022 State SC a unsigned senior currently has 1,092 points in his career. Stay tune for the Class 1A field looks to be an exciting one.
Can the Warriors 3-Peat?
The Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors defeated Dillon Christian 68-44 last season and Bethesda (GA) 44-30 back in 2020 to capture the past Class 2A titles. The Warriors will look to make it 3 in a row this season for Head Coach Chris Arp.
The Pee Dee Academy Eagles and Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach Saints might have other plans for the Warriors. These two teams battled it out during region, and each won on their home courts. Hudson Spivey Hudson Spivey 6'4" | SF Pee Dee Academy | 2023 State SC and Cameron Weston Cameron Weston 6'2" | SG Pee Dee Academy | 2022 State SC provide a good 1-2 punch for the Eagles.
The Saints will rely on seniors Fisher Darden Fisher Darden 6'2" | CG Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach | 2022 State SC and Marcus Saunders Marcus Saunders 6'2" | SG Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach | 2022 State SC . Sophomore Quadir Scott Quadir Scott 6'2" | CG Socastee | 2024 State SC and freshman Jack Green Jack Green 6'3" | SG Christian Academy Of Myrtle Beach | 2025 State SC provide good scoring options for the Saints when needed.
The Beaufort Academy Eagles have played a staggering 34 games and will enter the tourney at (27-7) this season. Sully Gay Sully Gay 6'3" | SG Catawba Ridge | 2024 State SC and freshman Amarion Wilson Amarion Wilson 6'6" | C Bridges Prep | 2025 State SC look to lead the Eagles.
SCISA Class 3A State Tourney
The Trinity Collegiate Titans defeated Porter Gaud 63-54 last season to win the championship. Can the Titans do it again this year?
Augusta Christian and First Baptist might have some say so in that. The Hurricanes will rely on Colin McKenzie Colin McKenzie 6'5" | SG First Baptist | 2022 State SC and Matty Foor Matty Foor 6'1" | PG First Baptist | 2023 State SC .
What about Hilton Head Prep and Head Coach Jerry Faulkner? JJ Hayes JJ Hayes 6'5" | SF Hilton Head Prep | 2022 State SC , Sean Cusano Sean Cusano 6'7" | SF Hilton Head Prep | 2023 State SC and Kane Eanes Kane Eanes 6'3" | SG Hilton Head Prep | 2023 State SC have the Dolphins at (20-3) this season. Pinewood Prep and Tariq Shabazz Tariq Shabazz 5'9" | PG Pinewood Prep | 2022 State SC finished with 19 wins this season.
Laurence Manning Academy Swamp Cats won the conference tourney with a big win over Trinity Collegiate to close out the regular season.
