The regular season is coming to a close here in South Florida. We still have some good matchups into February that I plan on attending. The new month will bring district contests as we move closer to the state tournament in Lakeland.

Let’s look at some prospects playing well as we close out January. Please feel free to share any information with me via my socials as I’m always looking to highlight new players.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829513" first="Nicholas" last="Mate"] has played well over the last several games. The 5-foot-10 guard scored a season-high 29 points against Ransom Everglades. Mate has scored 20 or more points and made at least five 3-pointers (21/36) in four straight games. Furthermore, Florida Christian has won each of those contests. Per information, Mate is averaging 16.6 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field. His average from deep is a solid 41 percent. Florida Christian is a dangerous team when Mate and fellow 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="814930" first="Jose" last="Amat"] III are knocking down shots. They play fast and can give any team a run for their money.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829421" first="Caleb" last="Mackrey"] is having a good season for Olympic Heights. The 6-foot-3 guard has averaged 23 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals per game while shooting 56 percent from the floor. In addition, Mackrey has made 41 3-pointers at a 44 percent clip. He is an all-around guard that can score and create for teammates. Mackrey is 17th in the state in scoring. The Lions have three games remaining on their regular season schedule. Check out Mackrey as he looks to finish strong.

Both 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829477" first="Kevin" last="Pazmino"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1062420" first="Noah" last="Kattan"] picked up offers from Albany State. The Cypress Bay stars have helped the Lightning to a 18-4 record. Moreover, the Lightning have won ten straight games. Both players can shoot and put the ball on the floor while having solid guard size at (6’4) and (6’3), respectively. Additionally, Pazmino has a 3.5 GPA while Kattan holds a 4.1. Expect both prospects to pickup additional offers in the coming weeks.

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1155270" first="Logan" last="Knight"] is an intriguing big at King’s Academy. The 6-foot-10 center came into the new year averaging a double-double. On Thursday, Knight had 20 points, ten rebounds and four blocks against St. John Paul II Academy. He has plenty of length and athleticism to be a reliable factor. He holds a 3.32 GPA at the West Palm Beach school. King’s Academy is currently 17-6 with two regular season games remaining.
