Continue ReadingThe Grissom Tigers went 3-18 in overall record and 1-4 in 7a league play. However, with a full offseason and promising team camps the Tigers could turn things around in their 2021-2022 campaign. Here are some key players that we feel can spark a change in the program.
Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson Efrem ‘Butta’ Johnson 6'4" | NA lbs | SG Grissom | 2022 State #NA Nation AL 6’2 SG-SF
A smooth Mid-range specialist whose fierce competitive nature drives his team. Johnson shows an ability to keep his composure when pressured on the dribble and can hit contested shots with ease. Has developed an unguardable fadeaway over the summer that will cause problems for smaller defenders. He shoots the ball well in catch-in-shoot situations and can make plays for others when necessary. He also shows an ability to finish with both hands; look for Johnson to be one of the top scorers in Alabama this season and continue to gain offers from regional mid-majors.
Efrem Johnson was probably my favorite under-the-radar prospect during my time at Peach Jam this week. Consistent outside shooter with a cerebral game off the bounce. Gets to his spots and knows how to use his body. @Smoovlikbutta1 @GrissomHoops @BooWilliamsAAU pic.twitter.com/IHHRaQ3ej0

RJ Johnson RJ Johnson 6'3" | PG Grissom | 2023 State #215 Nation AL 6’2 PG-SG
Johnson is an explosive combo guard who isn’t afraid to use his 200+ pound frame. The most physically dominating guard in the state regardless of class. Has the vertically to challenge bigs above the rim and agility to navigate through crowded paints. He shows good timing on his passes in the half-court and can be an excellent point guard. He’s a good enough shooter to keep the defense honest to set up his drives. He uses his athleticism to protect the paint during transition and strength to knock players off of their angle on drives. Look for Johnson II to leap into being an elite prospect within the state and possibly the best of the 2023 class

Izzy Miles Izzy Miles 6'1" | CG Grissom | 2023 AL 6’2 SG
Miles is an elite shooter who spaces the floor for his team. He primarily scores from catch-and-shoot situations where he’s highly effective. He also has an excellent in-between game that he can get to in a variety of ways. He has a solid handle and makes good decisions with passes as a secondary playmaker. Miles has added to his frame and showed more athletic development over the summer with poster dunks and one-man fastbreaks. If his athleticism catches up with his skill, he could easily be a top 10-15 player in the 2023 class.
🐅🏀2023 PG @imiles23 just caught a BODY🤯💀‼️@future150 camp‼️ #LeaveALegacy🐾🐾

Brendan Martin 6’5 SG
Martin’s stock has skyrocketed through his standout performances throughout the summer. Martin possesses a high skill level as a 3 level scorer and a willing passer. Martin is a sniper from deep, operates effectively in the mid-range with two dribble pull-ups, and shows touch around the basket. Very aware of his size and takes advantage of smaller guards and defenders in the post. Martin’s ability to pass also is next level for someone his age. If Martin can translate his work from the summer to the regular season, he will be an asset to Grissom and climb up the 2024 ranks.
🐅🏀2024 6’5 SF Brendan Martin is playing extremely well @future150 camp‼️ Scoring on all levels, great defense, great passing, he is definitely one of the top players in his class. Several AAU & College Coaches have inquired about his services. @brendanmartin12📈
