Numerous Texas high school teams journeyed to Duncanville Fieldhouse to compete in the GASO DFW Fall Classic, and I was able to catch the morning slate of games on Saturday. So, here are some standout prospects from the event:
Reid Hocker | 2022 | 5’10” Point Guard | Lake Highlands HS – Hocker operated as the Wildcats’ starting floor general and looked very good in that role. He took care of the basketball on offense and was solid when shooting from beyond the three-point line. The Lake Highlands senior displayed good range from deep and got his triples up in rhythm when spotting up. He was poised when handling the ball against pressure as well. Additionally, Hocker showed toughness on defense, taking charges and diving for loose balls in order to gain extra possessions for his team.
Isaiah Foster Isaiah Foster 6'0" | PG Frisco Memorial | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 6’0” Point Guard | Frisco Memorial HS – Foster displayed three-level scoring ability on Saturday in his matchup against Waxahachie. The Frisco Memorial guard is shifty with the ball and understands how to create for himself as well as his teammates. He was terrific when leading the break, making good decisions that almost always resulted in a bucket for his squad. His vision and accuracy as a passer were showcased. He also exhibited some versatility as a shooter, hitting shots from the catch and off the dribble with some crafty step back moves.
Franck Emmou | 2023 | 6’5” Combo Guard | Mansfield Summit HS – Emmou shot the ball very well in his first game of the day. He possesses good height and length at 6-feet-5-icnhes and elevates on his jumper, making it difficult to truly contest his shots. The junior guard thrived when spotting up from deep, knocking down several catch-and-shoot threes vs. Denton Guyer. He was great about squaring himself up, being ready to shoot when the ball found him, and confidently releasing the ball in rhythm when letting it fly from a variety of spots behind the arc.
Mason Wujek Mason Wujek 6'8" | PF Frisco Memorial | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 6’8” Power Forward | Frisco Memorial HS – Of the players that I hadn’t seen much of prior to this event, Wujek was the most impressive. His combination of size and shooting touch is special. The 2022 forward was fantastic at getting to his spots and converting and was virtually automatic when shooting his mid-range turnaround from the baseline. He displayed the ability to stretch out to the three-point line and bury outside shots from the catch too. Beyond his shooting, Wujek ran the floor and finished above the rim in transition and challenged shots in the paint on defense.
Darkaun King | 2023 | 6’7” Small Forward/Power Forward | Waxahachie HS – King was brilliant as a scorer on Saturday, utilizing his strength, soft touch, and relentless motor to put the ball in the basket from numerous spots. He was extremely aggressive, resulting in an abundance of high percentage shots and trips to the foul line. The 2022 combo forward was willing to be physical, absorbing bumps down low and finishing through contact on several occasions. He was also productive from mid-range when shooting off the dribble and was a serviceable shooter from three-point land. King is positioned for a breakout season with Waxahachie looking to replace a lot of offensive firepower.
Jeremiah Green Jeremiah Green 6'2" | CG Sunrise Christian Academy | 2025 #60 Nation KS | 2025 | 6’3” Point Guard | Denton Guyer HS – Green looked incredibly comfortable as a freshman playing against experienced varsity competition on Saturday. He was trusted to handle much of the ball handling responsibilities for Guyer and always seemed in control. The first-year guard was excellent as an outside shooter, showing that he can knock down triples off the bounce as well as when spotting up. DeVontae Cobb has him listed as one of his way too early freshmen of the year candidates, and I didn’t see anything from Green this weekend that would indicate he isn’t capable of achieving that.
