This week provides plenty of match-ups that will go a long way in deciding many conference championships across the area. Here are Prep Hoops Previews and Predictions for Week 10:
Princeton (9-6, 5-5) at #4 Mason (13-1, 9-1), Tuesday 7:30pm: Coming off of a big win over #5 Oak Hills on Friday, Mason cannot afford to overlook a talented Vikings team. Led by the 2nd ranked junior in the state of Ohio, Ohio State commit Darius Bazley, this Vikings team has the talent and coaching to pull off the upset. One slip up in conference and Mason could take itself out of the conference championship race. This is definitely a possible trap game for the Comets.
Prediction: Mason
#1 Moeller (17-0, 3-0) at #3 La Salle (14-2, 2-1), Friday 7:30pm: You know this is a big game when it was announced Monday that the game was already sold out. Yes, this rivalry is that huge right now. Moeller won the first matchup by ten 49-39 on January 13th. But Lancers star and Bellarmine University commit CJ Fleming missed that matchup with a shoulder injury and will be in the lineup for this matchup. Fleming is the Lancers leading scorer at over 18 points per game while sporting a shooting percentages of 57/48/92 respectively. A win by Moeller all but just about guarantees them the coveted Greater Catholic League South title.
Prediction: Moeller
#7 Taft (14-2, 6-1) at #6 Hughes (13-3, 7-0), Friday 7:30pm: Another game with huge conference implications as a win by Hughes all but guarantees Big Red the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference title. Hughes won the first matchup over the Senators at Taft by 15, a win which started Hughes current 11-game win streak. Taft is coming off of a tough 4 point road loss at #2 Summit and need this win if they want any share of the conference championship. This is also not the time of year for losing streaks with the playoffs a few weeks away. A major key will be the condition of Taft guard Chris’seon Stringer, who left the Summit game with a knee injury. Stringer is Prep Hoops 11th ranked sophomore in the state of Ohio.
Prediction: Hughes
#2 Summit Country Day (16-0, 9-0) at Woodward (11-6, 3-4), Saturday 7:30pm: Summit travels to The Blue Palace to face a CMAC school for the second straight weekend. The Silver Knights must be aware as Woodward is a very talented team that has the potential to pull off the upset. The Bulldogs are led by class of 2018 forward Terry Durham who is averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds for the season. What a win it would be for Woodward to knock off the top ranked Division III team in Ohio.
Prediction: Summit
