Thompson is an incredibly strong and physical player, using his muscle to dominate in the paint. In addition, his strength allows him to overpower defenders both offensively and defensively, whether he is finishing through contact at the rim or locking down opponents on defense. Moreover, Thompson is an elite shot blocker, utilizing his athleticism and timing to protect the rim effectively. He’s also a brick wall as a screener, setting powerful picks that create space for his teammates. His explosive leaping ability combined with his strength makes him a constant threat to finish with dunks. Furthermore, Thompson has a reliable jumper, great hands in the dunker spot, and a solid post game, capable of scoring over either shoulder. Not only is he an effective scorer, but he also makes smart passes when facing double teams, showing court awareness. As a rebounder, Thompson is aggressive and positions himself well.

Thompson is the No. 4 big man prospect to watch in the 2026 class with Winston-Salem Christian’s National squad. He’s another big man who’s shown he can operate inside and out with his ability to handle the rock and shoot the ball in the mid-range and on the perimeter. He put up 12.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per contest as a sophomore at St. Paul’s High this past season. Thompson continues to climb up the 2026 rankings in the latest update as he moves into the 26th spot. He’s a force to be reckoned with as he sports a stronger frame (college-ready albeit) with good instincts on both ends of the floor in the painted area. He put up 12.6 PPG, 9.3 RPG and 3.4 BPG on 53 percent shooting from the field as a sophomore with St. Paul’s. As he continues to develop his handles and perimeter game, look for his stock to continue to grow in the class. He’ll suit up with Garner Road this grassroots season on the 3SSB stage.

If they hope to make some noise in the playoffs, they will need some big games from this young man in the rebounding and blocks departments which he has shown that he is more than capable of.

Thompson stand 6’9″ but is an very fluid athlete out on the court. He is physical enough to use brute strength to finish through you but also bring great touch around the rim. He gobbles up rebounds and he also deters offensive players with his ability to block and alter shots.
