With many of those match-ups including teams in the top 10, it was a week that brought forth many changes in the poll for this week. So let’s cut the talking short and get right to the rankings:
- Moeller (17-0, 3-0), Previous Rank: 1 – Another 2-0 week for the Crusaders with wins over GCL rival Elder along with a 26 point victory over Wilmington. This week brings a rematch with 3rd ranked La Salle who will have a healthy CJ Fleming in the lineup on Friday. With a win Moeller will be in the driver’s seat for yet another GCL conference title.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/3 at #3 La Salle, 7:30pm
- Summit (14-0, 8-0), Previous Rank: 2 – The Silver Knights went 2-0 last week which included a huge 4 point win against 7th ranked Taft at home. A win against a Division II program like Taft should silence some of Summit doubters and serve notice that they are deserving of their #1 Division III ranking in the state.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/3 vs. Clark Montessori, 7:30pm; 2/4 at Woodward, 7:30pm
- La Salle (14-2, 2-1), Previous Rank: 3 – This is the week the Lancers try to avenge there January 13th loss to Moeller Friday at home. La Salle must win this game if wants to win at least a share of the conference title. CJ Fleming will be back in the lineup for this matchup after missing the matchup earlier this month with a shoulder injury.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 at McNicholas, 7:30pm; 2/3 vs. #1 Moeller, 7:30pm
- Mason (13-1, 9-1), Previous Rank: 5 – The Comets are coming off of a big week which included two wins against conference foes Middletown and former 4th ranked Oak Hills. The win against the Highlanders put Mason in a tie for first place with Oak Hills. Junior forward Noah Pedelty scored a season high 25 points for the Comets in the win over Oak Hills.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 vs. Princeton, 7:30pm; 2/3 vs. Hamilton, 7:30pm
- Oak Hills (13-3, 9-1), Previous Rank: 4 – The Highlanders are coming off of their first conference loss of the season against Mason on Friday. I think that no one was surprised by the outcome but were surprised by the fact Oak Hills lost the game by 22 points. Coach Mike Price squad must win out if wants at least a share of the Greater Miami Conference title.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 at Sycamore, 7:30pm; 2/3 at Middletown, 7:30pm
- Hughes (13-3, 7-0), Previous Rank: 8 – Another big win for the Big Red as they trounced Western Hills 86-54 on Friday put Hughes winning streak at 11. Big game this Friday against 7th ranked Taft will go along in deciding the CMAC championship.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 vs. Glen Este, 7:30pm; 2/3 vs. #7 Taft, 7:30pm
- Taft (14-2, 6-1), Previous Rank: 9 – The Senators are coming off of a 1-1 week which included a 4 point loss at 2nd ranked Summit. The loss at Summit should have Taft hanging their heads as Summit is the #1 ranked Division III team in the state. Coach Bradley squad must shake off Saturdays loss with a date at 6th ranked Hughes coming up on Friday. Taft must win this game if they want at least a share of the conference title.
Upcoming Schedule: 2/3 at #6 Hughes, 7:30pm
- Roger Bacon (13-3, 4-2), Previous Rank: 7 – Spartans are coming off of a tough 9 point loss to Chaminade Julienne out of the Dayton area on Friday. The loss stopped Bacons win streak at 4, with all four of those wins coming on the road. Bacon will get a tough test Tuesday when they visit always dangerous Elder at Elder.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 at Elder, 7:30pm; 2/3 at Fenwick, 7:30pm
- Wyoming (15-1, 8-1), Previous Rank: 6 – The Cowboys suffered their 1st loss of the season on Tuesday by a four point margin to conference rival Indian Hill. While Coach Edmonds squad did bounce with two weekend wins by a combined 78 points, the loss to Indian Hill may have exposed Wyoming lack of depth. Wyoming has relied heavily on five players all year and one must wonder if those five players are starting to get leg weary. In particular when at least 3 of the 5 also participate in football as well.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 at Mariemont, 7:30pm; 2/3 at Madeira, 7:30pm
- Lakota East (11-5, 7-3), Previous Rank: 10 – In Friday’s overtime win against Sycamore, the duo of Jarett Cox and Evan Kuhlman combined for 42 points while going a combined 16-19 from the free throw line. Friday’s matchup against Princeton could be one of the sleeper games of the week in Cincinnati.
Upcoming Schedule: 1/31 at Middletown, 7:30pm; 2/3 at Princeton, 7:30pm
