Layne Risdon Layne Risdon 6'9" | C Zeeland East | 2024 State MI 6-9 2024 Zeeland East I was impressed the first time I caught this young post playing with the West Michigan Lakers at the Up North Challenge in May. Showed off extreme length and natural mobility in leading his team to the 15U championship. Fast forward a few months and he continues to show growth and huge potential. Right now that potential is fully realized on the defensive end. Combined natural instincts and timing to be an excellent shot blocker. As his body and game continue to develop has a chance to be a special prospect.
Camden Thompson 6-4 2025 Whitehall A lot to like in this very young player. Despite standing 6-4 already has the perimeter ability to be considered a backcourt prospect. Has a smooth and easy release from the perimeter. Also good at finding the open man. You don’t often see that combination of skills in a prospect this young. Did not assert himself much in the scrimmages but that understandable considering his age.
Carson Vis 6-3 2025 Grand Rapids South Christian Like Thompson already has a very well rounded game for a prospect who has yet to step foot in high school. However Vis looked a lot more comfortable competing with the much older players in the scrimmages. This is probably a function of his participation with the Grand Rapids Storm’s Futures UA squad. This group played up an age division at times this summer. Part of a young Sailor nucleus with Jake Vermaas Jake Vermaas 6'2" | SG South Christian | 2024 State MI (2024) and Sam Medendorp (2023)that has the potential to be a special group.
Nigel Gadson 5-10 2024 Holt Quick young guard from the Lansing area had a good day. Already operates well in the pick and roll and displays excellent overall court vision. Also a good scorer with a trigger quick release from deep. Explosive leaping ability allows him to compete and score at the rim despite his size. Has had a good summer with the Michigan Titans and could be in line for a big sophomore season.
Trent Zielinski 5-9 2024 Center Line This smaller guard opened eyes with his shooting ability. Not shy at all and did not pass up open opportunities. An extremely quick release with little wasted motion helps him get it off efficiently. Not just a shooter. Good ball handler and passer. Competed hard defensively with well schooled footwork.
