And perhaps one of the state’s better hidden gems, there’s just been one area NAIA program that has been recruiting the White Castle junior.
“I’ve been having a college coach from Xavier (Louisiana) come look at me, and that’s it. He mainly comes to my games, and he tells me that they like my energy as a player,” said Fair.
“I’ve been starting to think about my recruitment heavily. I just hope it starts coming at me soon, especially during the summer time because that’s when I’m going to be working the hardest to try and get better.”
A gritty and versatile forward, Fair described to PHLA what he emphasizes when he’s on the court.
“My strengths are really rebounding and defense, that’s the main thing,” he said. “What I really need to improve is my ball-handling and getting stronger.”
Fair says he’s able to play from the wing, or with his back to the basket — as a small forward or a power forward.
“Either one is comfortable with me; if I have a smaller guard on me checking me because I’m on the wing, I’ll take him down to the post,” said Fair. “And if I have a slower defender on me I’ll just take them from the wing.”
But he knows his primary role with the Bulldogs.
“They’ve been expecting me to just go out there and be defensive stopper because we have so many scorers on that team,” said Fair.
