Wyatt Nausadis Wyatt Nausadis 6'4" | PG Traverse City St. Francis | 2023 State MI 6-3 2023 Traverse City St Francis The highest ranked player in the field and lived up to the billing. Impressive in wins against Alma and Cadillac. The Cadillac game especially as is it was a close one with little margin for error. Looked a little more comfortable playing point guard and initiating the offense than I saw in the regular season. That’s big for his development. If he becomes a true point he already has the size and athleticism that you don’t often see at that position anywhere. Uses this athleticism to excel in transition. Continues to show explosive elevation on his left handed jump shot. These factors combine to make it difficult to defend. If it is falling there is not much you can do. College coaches should not have any difficulty finding him this summer as he running with the Grand Rapids Storm.
Jaden Montague Jaden Montague 6'3" | PG Cadillac | 2023 State MI 6-1 2023 Cadillac The primary reason the Cadillac/St Francis game was so close was the play of Montague. Stepped up to challenge of guarding Nausadis and playing the point for the Vikings who were missing their primary ball handler. Accomplished this task and then some. Penetrated well and was efficient in the mid range. Elevates well with an unorthodox but efficient release on his shot. Explosive athletically and goes to rim with purpose. Should be the starting two guard on what will be one of the deepest squads in Northern Michigan.
Markvell Shaw 6-1 2022 New Buffalo (pictured at top of article) and Jeremiah Mitchell 6-2 2022 New Buffalo After two days of watching these young men just had to put them together. They complement each other so well as a backcourt. Shaw is the primary ball handler. He has a solid frame for a point guard and absorbs contact well. Was just as good at finding teammates off of drives as finding his own shot. Mitchell is more of a scorer with a wiry and lanky build. In fact I was surprised by his listed height and he might be a little taller. Plays fearlessly and wanted the ball in his hands during crunch time. Good outside shooter and doesn’t need much space to get it off. I don’t know much about Division 4 basketball in Southwest Michigan. But with this backcourt and the post presence of Zach Forker at 6-9 285 pounds. I have to think the Bison will be one of the top teams in the region.
Gavin Bisballe 6-5 2022 Lake City I have seen this forward play a lot in the last two years. So I feel pretty safe in saying he has taken quite a leap this summer. He always a had a uncommon combination of height and skill level. Now showing increased strength and a level of aggression that could really complete his game. Can easily make plays above the rim and has had multiple dunks on the week. Showed improved strength by going to the post repeatedly against big Ithaca team. Has always been able to shoot the three and operate in the mid range. While the progression usually goes in reverse the post game makes him a true three level scorer. Has good bloodlines as his sister plays at Grand Valley. A big senior season could see him follow this progression.
