This Weeks Predictions
This Weeks Predictions gives you our predictions on what we think the best games of the night are across the state of Utah. Have a look! Did we just overhype you? Or overlook you?
Jordan @ West Jordan last year Jordan (8-4) got knocked out of the playoffs in the Play-In-Game by the Jaguars. This year Jordan struggled against doormat Cottonwood. West Jordan (7-5) is led by 6’4 Junior Darrian Nebeker who is averaging 13 & 6. Jordan is led by 6’5 Jr. Josh Christensen and 6’2 Cameron Blunk both averaging 11 ppg. Much like last year we think West Jordan pulls the home win out.
Hillcrest @ Kearns the Cougars (7-5) were the early favorite to knock-off preseason favorite Olympus but they’re going to have to get through the biggest surprise team in the state in the Hillcrest Huskies (9-1). The Huskies have four players scoring in double figures and they will have their hands full with Kearns and their uptempo play. We think Hillcrest has the depth that Kearns doesn’t in this match-up.
Timpanogos @Timpview the Thunderbirds only have one in-state loss and that’s to Wasatch Academy. Timpview (7-3) has played an extremely tough schedule and they take on a young and talented group in Timpanogos (8-3). Hunter Erickson is a D1 talent in the making and Adam Santiago is picking up his play as well. The T-Wolves have their own duo in Matt Norman 17 ppg. and Dalten Stewart 14 ppg. we just don’t think they have enough to upset Timpview at home.
North Summit @ Summit Academy the Braves (7-5) have played some teams tough this year. With a new coaching staff it seems like they have found something that works as they have upset Morgan and Waterford as of late. Calvin Hunsaker looks healthy and is playing well. The Bears (7-5) have a talented big in 6’7 Jr. Jay Gilson and will need him to stay out of foul trouble. We give the Bears the home court advantage on this one.
American Fork @ Lone Peak the Cavemen (8-4) have a young group and they have a few bad losses to Copper Hills in a 20+ blowout, Viewmont and they had a scare against Herriman. AF is lead by Jake Whitehead and Isaac Johnson both future collegiate players. Lone Peak (6-3) is… Lone Peak and they will be tough to beat, especially at home. Nate Harness a sleeper is averaging 20 ppg. They have a lot of horses and we expect them to win this game.
Olympus @ Hillcrest should be a great game especially if the Huskies survive Kearns. This could be the battle for the region and Hillcrest has the horses to compete against a loaded Olympus (10-2) team. The Titans have 4 players scoring 13 ppg. or more. Lindsey, Wagstaff, Jones and Dowdell will be too much . The Titans seemed to have learned something in those 2 losses.(Sorry Coach Sellers)
Ridgeline @Juan Diego what a heavyweight match-up. Juan Diego (10-2) is lead by Sr. PG Tan Eslliey who is very well composed and gets the team involved in every aspect of the game, he is a D3 or D2 talent. Ridgeline (8-3) has one of the best players in the state in Jaxon Brenchley but we don’t think it will be enough to be Juan Diego at home.
Riverton @ Lehi the battle for the last playoff spot in on in Region 4. Riverton is 6-6 with no true signature win this year. Lehi is 6-6 with a good win against Westlake. Riverton is led by Nate Headrick and Lehi is led by Ethan Tuckett, something has to give and we think that Riverton will pull this one out.
South Sevier @Kanab the Rams are (7-5) are playing well and could be the most improved team in 2A. The Cowboys are 9-3 but haven’t really played anyone. South Sevier should pull this upset off and look for Caleb Barton to go off. .
Sleeper Pick of the Week
Don’t be surprised if Alta goes 2-0 this week as Connor Foulton and Armani Levine are playing better as of late and an upset win against Corner Canyon might have sparked the team and they could make a run. Alta is probably the best 3-10 team in the state. Foulton is averaging 20 ppg and Levine is at 10 ppg.
