1 Thomas Hensley (2017, CAM, Anita) 5.1
This speedster is one of the state’s best track standouts to go along with his prowess on the court. It’s no secret that great speed and quickness directly correlate with high steals numbers, therefore, it’s no surprise to see the 5’7 guard at the top of this list.
2 Michael Demers (2017, St Mary’s, Storm Lake) 5.0
Demers is enjoying a terrific senior season, one of the best in the state so far. His 5 steals per game are great, but he’s also one of the Iowa’s best scorers, netting 26.9 points per game, and he’s pulling down 8.4 boards per game too.
3 Grant DeMeulenaere (2018, Grand View Christian) 4.7
What a December this 5’9 point guard put together, he’s become a star on one of 1A’s best teams. We knew he could be a great player last year when we saw him, but he’s risen very high very fast. His great savvy and basketball instincts make for high steals numbers.

4 Jovonte Squiers (2017, Lone Tree) 4.6
Squiers has been topping steals and assists charts in Iowa since his freshman season, so there was no reason to expect this one to be any different. Is this the year we see the 6-foot speedster down at the state tournament? The Lions certainly have a decent shot.
5 Ja’Cee Clark (2018, Waterloo East) 4.5
The only 4A representative on this list, Clark has seemingly come out of nowhere to become an impact player in the state’s biggest class. He also leads his team in scoring and assists; watch out for this 5’9 point guard.
