To open up our content we’re going to be looking at some of the top performers from the class of 2022. There will be another part to top 2022 performers, this is just the start of our content from the past weekend’s games.
Sean Jones Sean Jones 5'10" | PG Gahanna | 2022 State #102 Nation OH , 5’11 PG Gahanna 2022 All Ohio Red EYBL: Jones put together a masterful performance for All Ohio Red in an absolute battle with Midwest Basketball Club. Jones was creating for himself and hitting a variety of tough shots in the process. Jones is incredibly quick and shifty with the basketball, however his degree of difficulty on his shots is a bit worrisome. Jones typically opts to shoot from the 5-10 foot range instead of getting all the way to the rim when facing taller rim protectors. Regardless of some of these critiques, Jones is clearly one of the top prospects in Ohio’s 2022 class and worthy of high major offers he’s begun to rack up.
Elmore James Elmore James 6'4" | SG Brush | 2022 State OH , 6’3 SG Brush 2022 All Ohio Red EYBL: James and Jones were the two leading scorers in the battle between two of Ohio’s shoe circuit AAU programs. James does a ton of dirty work on both ends, but has really improved as a scorer. Jones can stretch the floor from the catch and now has some self-creation ability after a huge junior season with Brush. James should be getting attention from top mid major teams.
Ben Southerland Ben Southerland 6'7" | PF Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy | 2022 State #247 Nation OH , 6’7 PF Sycamore 2022 Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB: Southerland was one of a handful of impressive performers for Midwest Basketball Club 17 U this weekend. I love Southerland’s shooting stroke at his size and he moves well for a PF. Southerland has some nice upside as it seems like he’s turning a corner with production on this midwest club that really shares the ball well.
Rich Rolf Rich Rolf 6'6" | PF Centerville | 2022 State OH , 6’7 PF Centerville 2022 Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB: I love how Rolf plays off other talented players, he doesn’t try to do too much with the ball and plays his role exceptionally well. Rolf is one of the top rebounders in the state and gives his team extra possessions every game. Rolf also shot the ball better from the outside than I had previously seen. Because of the great ball movement that midwest has, Rolf gets a handful of easy looks at the rim from dribble drive penetration from their guards. Rolf should be getting a lot of attention from low to mid majors this summer.
Keyshawn Hall Keyshawn Hall 6'6" | PF Cleveland Heights | 2021 State OH , 6’6 PF Cleveland Heights 2021 Mid Ohio Pumas Gold: Hall is a 2021 prospect but it’s expected that he’ll be opting for a year of prep school before heading to college. Hall stepped up to the plate against Bates Fundamentals in a big way early. Hall’s combination of burst and wiggle at his size is a lot to handle for opposing defenses. Hall finished with a team high 18 points but left some layups at the rim, shot’s that he’ll wish he could get back.
Jacob Pleiman Jacob Pleiman 6'6" | PF Botkins | 2022 State OH , 6’7 PF Botkins 2022 Mid Ohio Pumas Gold: Fresh off a state championship, Pleiman impressed me against Bates Fundamentals and their athletic front-court. Pleiman was more confident shooting the basketball from the outside than I remembered and always gives great effort on both ends. Pleiman is a scholarship power forward who should get a lot of interest from D2 programs around the state.
