Hamilton is an unsigned senior that played 17U this weekend and you could tell he was trying to prove something. Hamilton already plays with maturity beyond his years but now that he was playing with a grade below him this weekend he put on a masterclass as a point guard. Leadership, calmness in the chaos, and just control of the game. He was great with communication all weekend and controlled the game like how he always does. One thing that was different for Hamilton this weekend was his aggressiveness to score. He was coming off screens looking to score more than pass like how he usually does and he was giving teams buckets. His pull-ups in the midrange were great. Finishing around the rim over bigger defenders with his right was on full display. I saw him play two games this past weekend and the first game his right hand was taped up and in the second game it wasn’t and he shot the ball significantly better in the second game. In that same game, his team was down 12 points at the half, and in the second half he completely dominated the game and willed his team to the bracket play dub.

Hamilton has been the engine for STVM this season, making huge leaps as a scorer. With big time games against top competition, Hamilton has drastically improved his stock throughout this winter and continues to get better and better. A bit of an unorthodox game, Hamilton is very small and was nicknamed ‘Fat’ but he gets to the spots he needs to on the court. Hamilton has become one of the more dangerous pull-up shooters in Ohio and he harasses ball handlers defensively. Based on his production against top competition, Hamilton should be a top priority for Division III programs and getting scholarship interest at the Division II and NAIA level. This is a guard who will help you win at the next level!

Another northeast Ohio guard making a huge impact on one of the best teams in the state, Hamilton has taken over as the point guard for Dru Joyce II and thrived in that role. Hamilton has had some huge games for the Irish this season, showing off his scoring ability. Tough to stay in front of, Hamilton uses his lack of size to his advantage with his shiftiness and pull-up ability. A competitive defender and not afraid to take charges, Hamilton is another prospect who should be getting scholarship interest with a deep postseason run.

I kept finding myself on Sunday just loving Hamilton’s leadership. I was lucky enough to be on the baseline for STVM’s game against Sierra Canyon on Saturday and the leadership stuck out there but I wondered if it was just for the cameras and media or not. Turns out he wasn’t. That is just the type of kid Hamilton is. He is an excellent leader. He is like a second coach on the floor. Great communicator. He is also just the type of senior point guard you want. Very consistent. He knocks down one shot and he got the team going for the Irish on Sunday. It seemed like they might’ve been drained and still celebrating the big win on Saturday but Kevin wasn’t. He was leading the way scoring and bringing his teammates with him. He finished with 28 points.

Hamilton has been a player we’ve seen since his freshman year with the Irish, but his demeanor and play against a highly touted Sierra Canyon (CA) team is the reason why he is on this list. Hamilton facilitates the offense and keeps the ball moving and flowing. Doesn’t get selfish and uses his attacks/dribbles to setup for better looks. Quick hands and quick handle as he moves well with the ball in possession. Size has been an issue before, but Hamilton is showing he doesn’t use as a crutch and instead goes at anyone that is assigned to defend him.

Hamilton brought the spark for a STVM squad that’s having to adjust offensively without a go-to scorer like Jayvon Graves, Lunden McDay, Malaki Branham or Sencire Harris. That’s a lot of star talent that’s carried the Irish offensively for over half a decade. The Irish will win in different ways this season and Hamilton’s offensive spark was what they needed on the road. Hamilton looks a little skinner than before and quicker on the ball. Reynoldsburg struggled to stay in front of Hamilton and his shot-making was superb in a grind it out victory.
