Clyde Lee III — 2023 — Minnesota Hoopers
Standing at just 5-foot-8, Lee is undersized for the point guard position. However, what he lacks in height he makes up for in other areas of the game. Leading the Minnesota Hoopers to a nice win, Lee was very active on defense. He tipped some passes, which led to transition opportunities for his teammates. On offense, the PG was unstoppable when he decided to drive to the rim. Lee used his speed and shiftiness to blow by his defender and finish at the cup.
Ben Diang — 2023 — Minnesota Hoopers
While Lee took care of things in the backcourt for the Hoopers, Diang was the main man in the frontcourt. He controlled the paint on both ends, as he influenced shots, rebounded, and made a couple of difficult layups. At one point in the second period, the forward threw down a dunk that drew a big reaction from his bench. Diang’s energy and presence were a big reason why his team walked away with the win.
Jaylen Johnson — 2023 — Pride Roc
Johnson might have been the most versatile prospect in the gym on Saturday afternoon. The Pride Roc prospect snatched rebounds, played excellent defense, scored in the paint, and made two timely three-point shots that allowed his team to keep a hold of its lead. Johnson is a polished prospect in all aspects of the game.
Maurice Gibbs — 2023 — Pride Rock
In transition, Gibbs proved to be a very dangerous weapon for Pride Roc in its win on Saturday. Once the point guard got downhill and decided that he was going to attack the basket, the opposition had no chance of slowing him down. Gibbs’ layups were not uncontested, either. On multiple occasions, he was forced to find creative ways to finish around contact at the rim.
Ac Strok — 2023 — Wisconsin Academy
I didn’t catch all of his game, but I didn’t need to see much to recognize the talent that Strok has. At 6-foot-4, Strok has great positional size. The shooting guard can finish through contact at the rim and his jump shot is as smooth as it gets. To close the game, Strok had a big three-point play, which eventually served as the dagger. I also really like the effort that the SG showed. Multiple times, he sacrificed his body and dove for loose balls.
Simeon Murchison Simeon Murchison 6'9" | PF Milwaukee Bay View | 2023 State WI — 2023 — Wisconsin Playmakers
After his performance on Saturday, Murchison’s stock is higher than it has ever been. The 6-foot-8 power forward out of Milwaukee Bay View started the game by making two layups on beautiful post moves. Then, to show his versatility, the PF drilled a three from the corner. Like all big men his age, Murchison still has some rough edges. However, if he continues to round out his game and get better, I have no doubt that the Wisconsin Playmakers prospect will become a real problem.
Matthew Moore Matthew Moore 6'7" | PF Hillcrest | 2023 State IL — 2023 — Chicago Lockdown
Moore impacted all aspects of the game in Chicago Lockdown’s win on Saturday afternoon. The 6-foot-7 forward blocked shots, drew fouls, made layups, and played really good post defense. Because of his athletic ability and length, Moore has the potential to develop into a college-caliber player.
