Expert Analysis
Devontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
Doryan’s slam dunking ability in the post was nothing short of electrifying, showcasing exceptional athleticism, wingspan, and explosiveness. His dominance in the game was evident as a constant aerial threat around the rim, finishing lobs and cleaning up misses with powerful putback dunks. Also, his jumper from various distances created mismatches and provided floor-spacing opportunities for Faith Family.

was an ideal stretch-forward with the versatility to excel at three different positions beyond the conventional big man role. His proficiency with mid-range jumpers and three-pointers made him a nightmare matchup for defenders. On the defensive end, he was a game-changer, with an unparalleled shot-blocking ability that stuck fear into his opponents, forcing them to settle shots away from the rim.

and got the best of him as he was able to score both inside and out as well as being a major factor on the glass. He has great size, solid feel around the basket, and can stretch his range out to the 3-point line confidently.

had an outstanding weekend, impressing with his high basketball IQ and skills when handling the ball. Among centers in the entire state, regardless of class, Doryan proved to be the most versatile and fundamental soundness prospect of them all, making him a constant mismatch for opponents. His remarkable coordination and agility, considering his size and length, were on full display. Standing at 6-foot-11, he exhibited good footwork in the post and a fluid spot-up jump shot from the perimeter, which made him a genuine threat in the pick-and-pop game. Onwuchekwa primarily generated his offense through post-ups, but he also showcased an effectiveness when spreading the floor. He showed great awareness of when and how to use fakes and pivots in the low post. Doryan’s shooting touch around the rim was difficult for defenders to stop as well, as he finished through traffic at a high rate.Access all of Prep Hoops

Doryan is a throwback big that basketball needs to see more of, yet he has shown he can step out and knock down the open trail three pointer when necessary. Doryan pursues every rebound which is always what coaches desire from a good big. The hands are there enabling him to catch and finish, although I would like to see him establish lower post position instead of his tendency to float out near the free throw line. Onwuchekwa is a good shot blocker and rim protector, and there is no collegiate team that can’t use that skillset. If he can work on his explosion off the floor and feet speed this summer I can see him going high major.

He made his impact from the beginning from two-hand outback jame first possession of the game. Displayed how he can defend guards at the perimeter. Made it hard for the offense to get any second chance points or any clear looks near the rim. Even showed his outlet skills with two full-court passes to the man running the court. Aggressive big man that powers through contact.
