Happy Holidays everyone!

The hoop season is in full effect here in South Florida. The Prep Hoops Sun Bash Miami was a resounding successes last weekend at Westminster Christian. Our follow-up event is taking place tonight and tomorrow at the Canterbury School in St. Petersburg. We also have the Kreul Classic taking place in Coral Springs this weekend. That is a lot going on before we close out 2020.

With that being said, I would look to highlight some prospects playing well to close out the year. If you have anyone you believe deserves recognition, feel free to reach out to me at my socials. I encourage this as I am only one person!

[player_tooltip player_id="953477" first="Hubertas" last="Pivorius"] - Columbus

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="953477" first="Hubertas" last="Pivorius"] has turned it on as of late. The 6-foot-2 Lithuanian has scored 73 points over his last three games. Moreover, Pivorius has knocked down 16 3-pointers in that span. Pivorius plays with a high basketball IQ coming out of the guard position. He has averaged 18.2 points on 43 percent shooting through five games for the Explorers. Against Schoolhouse Prep, Pivorius scored 31 points on 10-of-20 from the field and hit eight 3-pointers. His shooting efficiency has spiked as of late. You have to be cognizant of his shooting ability at any point during a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="714859" first="Micah" last="Octave"] - Olympic Heights

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="714859" first="Micah" last="Octave"] is putting on a show for Olympic Heights. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is averaging 27.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.7 steals and 4.0 assists through three recorded games. The Lions are happy to have him after he transferred over from Grandview Prep. Against Boca Raton, Octave scored 33 points on 11-of-15 from the field. Octave has the athleticism and size to be a difference maker anywhere on the floor. The statistics clearly point to that thus far.

[player_tooltip player_id="829393" first="Jesus" last="Rivas"] - Brito

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829393" first="Jesus" last="Rivas"] looks like an emerging powerhouse for the Panthers. The 6-foot-9 center is averaging 8.9 points and 10.1 rebounds through seven games. Moreover, Rivas has recorded just under four blocks per contest. Against Miami Beach, Rivas grabbed 13 rebounds and had seven blocks. The Panthers won that game by ten points, making Rivas’ contribution that more critical. I expect his rim protecting to loom large for the Panthers moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="818866" first="Desmond" last="Romer"] - Coral Gables

2021 [player_tooltip player_id="818866" first="Desmond" last="Romer"] has the Cavaliers 4-0. The 6-foot-1 point guard is averaging 23 points and seven assists for Coral Gables per MaxPreps. Moreover, Romer has recorded 5.5 steals per game. The Cavaliers fast start comes as no surprise to me. The team is very talented led by the diverse playmaking ability of Romer. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="712125" first="Kuran" last="Bryant"] sits right behind him averaging 22 points per game. The 6-foot-5 forward grabbed 15 rebounds in two separate games against Columbus and Miami High. This is one of the best teams in Miami-Dade.

Ray Perez - Coral Park

2022 Ray Perez has shot the ball terrific for the Rams. The 6-foot-1 guard is averaging 25.7 points on 64 percent shooting from the field. Against South Dade, Perez scored 32 points on 12-of-16 shooting. The Rams needed Perez’s output as it was a 2-point victory. Moreover, Perez has knocked down 11-of-17 of his 3-pointers through three games. He has been a huge lift for Coral Park in the early going.

[player_tooltip player_id="714896" first="Gabriel" last="Gonzalez"] - Southwest

Give credit where credit is due. 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="714896" first="Gabriel" last="Gonzalez"] has the Eagles 6-0 and while scoring 79 total points. The Southwest guard has averaged 17.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists through six games. Moreover, Gonzalez is shooting an efficient 59 percent from the field and 40 percent from deep.
