Everyone seems to know that Kolakovich can fill it up from behind the arc. But the simple fact is, he’s one of the better passers in the state. This really aids him in controlling the feel and the flow of the game, which is essential for a player that wants to hold the title of a coach on the floor. Kolakovich was more than impressive when I watched his game against Almont. He did a great job letting the game come to him and making plays when they were available. Kolakovich did a great job controlling the feel and the pace of the game. He showed that he could push the ball with both the pass and the dribble, hitting Kroetsch in stride with a pass up the floor that led to a bucket and then pushing with the dribble and kicking out an open Kroetsch for a triple. Kolakovich was able to beat the defense down the floor for easy points as well as poke and prod until he found a lane to the rim.

Kolakovich is sort of the jack of all trades when it comes to talented perimeter prospects. He can shoot, defend, and yes pass, at a very high level. He has touch and accuracy on his post feeds and does a great job utilizing the bounce pass. Kolakovich is a dangerous passer when leading the break. He can hit cutters from the wing as well as penetrate to the free throw line and dump the ball off.

His offense and his ability to take and make shots may at times overshadow his defense, but let’s not forget that he’s a truly elite defender. Kolakovich is a high IQ defender that can go head to head with some terrific scorers.
