As you will see below, several of these guys can score in doses while others do great work outside of scoring. Take a look below at the best talent upcoming in the sophomore class.
Lawrent Rice Lawrent Rice 6'4" | PG Huber Heights Wayne | 2023 State #184 Nation OH (Wayne)- Rice has really grown over the last few months and expanded his game. More of a distributor a year ago, Rice showed more explosiveness and an ability to take over a game offensively in Dayton Open Run settings as well as with Team Flyght. Can defend the ball and be more of a threat on the defensive end. Has attracted the interest from multiple D1s including Purdue recently.
Gabe Cupps Gabe Cupps 6'1" | PG Centerville | 2023 State #80 Nation OH (Centerville)- Cupps is part of an absolutely loaded 2023 backcourt in Dayton.Running over the Summer with an extremely talented Indy Heat team, Cupps has shown he can do so much more than just score in doses. Used improved vision to setup the many athletes on the Indy Heat team. Also impressed defending on the perimeter. Moves his feet efficiently and quickly and can hang with some of the faster guards. If he can continue to be a distributor for the talent he has at Centerville, could lure the attention of MM and LM programs.
Chico Johnson Chico Johnson 6'2" | SG Toledo Central Catholic | 2023 State OH (Toledo Central Catholic)- Johnson impressed as C2K Elite’s leader in the backcourt in Fort Wayne this Summer. The Toledo Central Catholic guard has good size and showed me he can protect the rim with his length and athleticism. Has great change of speed and direction on the perimeter which allows him opportunities to attack from the perimeter and create offense for himself and others. Part of a young backcourt with a bright future for the Irish.
Khoi Thurmon Khoi Thurmon 6'1" | PG Buchtel | 2023 State OH (Copley)- Thurmon was one of several high level prospects on a loaded Bates Fundamentals team. The 5’10 PG has a strong upper body for a guard at that size. He didn’t need to do a ton in terms of scoring for his AAU team due to the firepower from his teammates. At Copley, he is part of a young group that could turn them into a potential sleeper in Northeast Ohio. Holds an offer from Illinois currently
Bede Lori Bede Lori 6'2" | SG Caldwell | 2023 State OH (Caldwell)- Lori impressed me at the Route 33 Challenge and with All Ohio Red. Possessing an unorthodox shot, Lori still has the confidence to put up shots and does it in a high volume. Impressed more with his defense and ability to lockdown the perimeter. Very good footwork and fundamentally makes the right decisions on the defensive end. As he improves his mechanics on his shot and becomes an even more improved scorer, could attract attention from elite D2s.
Michael Greenlee Michael Greenlee 5'10" | PG Toledo Central Catholic | 2023 State OH (Toledo Central Catholic)- The 5’9 PG has a solid rookie campaign with Toledo St. John’s and good showing this Summer with Maumee Bay Turf. Greenlee ran the offense and orchestrated in different ways with Maumee Bay and impressed beyond his offensive capabilities. He will spend the upcoming high school season at Toledo Central Catholic and is part of a young backcourt for TCC.
