These players had a great first day of competition and should only get better from here. Keep an eye out for the rest of my coverage from this event, and for these athletes to have a dominant upcoming senior campaign.
Cole Anderson 6’7 2021 (BP Elite) Barbers Hill High School
Cole is an intelligent forward who can stretch the floor just as well as he dominates down low. He is great at fighting for position down low, spinning off defenders to front them, and box them out. He is a great screener and can do a multitude of things after the screen. He can pop and stretch the floor, roll and finish around the rim or roll and fire a tough pass to the corner to an open shooter as he feels the defense collapse on him. He has an array of post moves and ball skills off a live dribble. I would like to see more development and willingness to take a pull-up mid-range jumper that has been there for him all day.
Shane Bell 6’3 2021 (Texas Takeover 17U Major) Alief Elsik High School
Shane is a dominant wing who is great at getting downhill. He possesses great strength to bully defenders on the block and is scrappy in his fight for rebounds. He is a great rebounder and protects the rim very well for his size. His ability to get to the rim on the fast break makes him a game wrecker. He has the potential to shut down the gym if you give him enough space to rise up and throw down.
Edgar Romero 5’10 2021 (Jesuit) Strake Jesuit High School
Edgar is a sharp shooting point guard who has a high release despite his smaller frame and shoots well over tough on ball defense. He is lightning quick with a live dribble and can get to his spots with ease, even with a larger defender on him. He is great off the catch as well and moves well without the basketball. I would like to see improvement on the defensive end of the floor and a better ability to fight through screens.
Mason Mcbride 6’4 2021 (Houston Imperial 17U) Manvel High School
Mason is great at drawing contact and getting to the line. He has an effective way of getting his defenders to bite on pump fakes and head fakes. He is great at getting his defenders up in the air in the post and finishing well around the rim. He is also great at moving without the basketball, filling space along the wing, and cutting backdoor for easy looks. He is an aware player who should garner a lot of attention this upcoming year for Manvel High School.
Jason Resewehr 6’3 2021 (Shooting Stars Blue) Tompkins High School
Jason is an intelligent combo guard who shoots the ball at a high clip. He has good triple threat moves that he uses to get defenders off balance. I would like to see him get lower and provide more explosion out of the triple threat because he has the intelligence to get his defenders off balance with ease.
Isaiah Monroe 6’2 2021 (Shoooting Stars Blue) Alief Elsik High School
Isaiah is a crafty point guard who finishes strong in the paint. He has great upper body strength that he uses to finish well at the rim despite contact. He has great length that he uses to bait defenders into reaching and then extending his arms past them drawing contact much like James Harden does in the lane.
