Thomas Diew Thomas Diew 6'7" | C St. Cloud Apollo | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Comets (St. Cloud Apollo).
Why? Diew was the Comets second leading scorer and at times he was their main option because most teams didn’t have player big enough and agile enough to defend Thomas around the basket. Diew’s strength held his spot and allowed him to be a low block playmaker.
Evan Dushek Evan Dushek 6'8" | C Owatonna | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Select 17s (Owatonna).
Why? At a out 6-foot-8 and anchored on the block, Evan is set to be one of the toughest players to move in the paint the next two seasons. What separates Evan from other bigs of similar size is Evan’s developing scoring touch from many different angles on the floor.
Brady Helgren Brady Helgren 6'8" | C Edina | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury (Edina).
Why? Brady fell into the four man active scoring role very well for the Fury. He was a dependable five basket, six rebound a game player for the Fury. This is a Fury team that rarely got in situations where a player needed to individually needed to create offense. Some guys get lost in spots like that, others thrive as they learn to produce within the framework. Brady thrived at 6-foot-8.
Camden Holter Camden Holter 6'3" | SG Minneapolis Southwest | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury Narum (Holy Angels).
Why? First impression of what Cam Holter was that he’s an athletic wing that has the potential to grow into a scholarship talent. Second impression this summer is that Holter has become a more skilled, versatile player that will have no issue with shoulder a bigger load.
Cohen Kellogg Cohen Kellogg 6'0" | PG Orono | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Comets (Minnetonka).
Why? Cohen’s summer was cut short early because of an ankle injury but the intensity he brought to the floor along with a dependable start to each possession caught our eye. Most recent school to reach out is Cal Lutheran University out in California.
Avery Mast Avery Mast 6'5" | PF Lakeville South | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury (Lakeville South).
Why? The skill is coming along quickly, and the will to be a main option is something Avery seems to desire. Finished at a high rate inside and out, and then went back on defense to get to his spot defending a pass off the ball, or fighting a four man on the block if needed. Well educated, constantly consistent, and now seems hungry to be a bucket getter.
Bernard Omooria of D1 Minnesota Prospects 17s (Osseo).
Why? You want to talk about a guy that showed some resilience, Bernard’s first team didn’t work out so he bounced back and had a strong several weeks playing at the 17u level. Was an all league point guard in one of Minnesota’s best leagues this winter, played a combo role this summer and was a double figure scorer.
Samuel Rensch Samuel Rensch 6'6" | SF Hutchinson | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Fury (Hutchinson).
Why? If I had to pick a guy from this list that I think can take another jump and be a talent that starts to get strong low major D1 looks along with a flood of NSIC interest, it would be Avery or Sam. Between the skill and versatility, Sam is the type of guy that will offer a school so many different things.
Caleb Siwek Caleb Siwek 6'1" | SG Rosemount | 2022 State MN of Howard Pulley (Rosemount).
Why? One of the main members of the Minnesota 40% Club, Caleb is a natural shooter and has a gift of finding ways to produce points. Love watching him thirst for space at which he can catch and dagger teams. A guy that can explode for a 10-0 run of his own, on a nightly basis.
Dylan Wheeler Dylan Wheeler 6'3" | SG Mounds View | 2022 State MN of Minnesota Heat (Mounds View).
Why? I love how hard Dylan Wheeler Dylan Wheeler 6'3" | SG Mounds View | 2022 State MN plays. I love his battle to help his team. There are guys that might be a bit bigger or faster, that I would choose Dylan to be better than because his hunger is bigger. In all the games I have seen Dylan play in 2020 he’s been a producer for his team in points and other ways. Tough to forget that 29 point burst versus CDH, but saw him do something similar with the Heat.
