After our series of articles on the Class of 2021 who should be valued, we now shift our attention to those in the Class of 2022 and those that need to be on the radar of college coaches.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these juniors the attention of prospective college coaches.
Wiley Sherburne Wiley Sherburne 6'4" | PF Janesville | 2022 State IA – Janesville
At nearly 18 points and over seven rebounds a night, Class of 2022’s Wiley Sherburne Wiley Sherburne 6'4" | PF Janesville | 2022 State IA became a household name around the Iowa Star Conference last year.
Sherburne shot 58 percent from the field, finishing with 410 points to go along with 169 rebounds, helping the Wildcats win 19 games.
He also showed some long-range game, knocking down 10 three-pointers. And when opposing teams sent him to the free throw line, Sherburne made them pay, knocking down 64 percent of his 150 attempts.
Elliott Flynn – Waterloo Christian
A true center, Elliott Flynn controlled the paint last year for Waterloo Christian.
Flynn scored 227 points on over 53 percent shooting, adding 135 rebounds, 26 steals, 19 assists and eight blocked shots. He was also effective at the free throw line, sinking almost 58 percent of his attempts for the Regents, who finished the year 10-12.
Leo Dodd – Janesville
The expectations for Janesville in 2020-21 are very high as the Wildcats return four starters from the Class of 2022 including Leo Dodd.
Dodd produced 152 points in 17 games last year, adding 99 assists, 61 rebounds and 53 steals. He led the team in assists and shot almost 53 percent from the floor and made 66 percent of his free throw attempts.
Osceola Tyon – Meskwaki Settlement
Another member of the all-name team, Osceola Tyon make a big impact for Meskwaki Settlement as a sophomore.
Tyon scored 224 points with 48 rebounds, 40 assists and 34 steals for the Warriors, who went 18-5 before bowing out against state qualifier West Fork in the Class 1A substate semifinals.
Alongside returning leading scorer Taurice Grant Taurice Grant 5'11" | PG Meskwaki Settlement School | 2021 State IA , Tyon gives Meskwaki Settlement quite the nucleus in 2020-21.
Adam Greiner – North Tama
Despite playing in just 11 games last year, Adam Greiner showed how important he can be on the court.
Greiner recorded 111 points with 40 rebounds, 21 steals and 16 assists. He shot nearly 30 percent from the three-point line. With the loss of five seniors, expect a big winter from Greiner on the hardwood.
