Here are some of the players who looked good from 16U play on Saturday:
Brayden Johnson, MN Crossfire – Terhaar
Johnson looks like a really intriguing player out of Hutchinson. He’s got great length at 6-foot-7 or so but also the mobility and skill to do a lot of different things. He handled the ball well and shows some skill as an attacker and passer out of short rolls or the high post. He’s athletic enough to defend out in space while also getting back to protect the paint, and he’s aggressive contesting shots and protecting the rim.
Isaiah Cherney, Minnesota Magic Williams
Cherney is an intriguing post prospect from Eagan. He’s 6-foot-7 and seems to have some polish in the low post. He’s active on the offensive glass, he’s got good hands and does a good job finishing. His length is an asset on the defensive side, as he can protect the paint and rebound his area at a solid level. He’s got to get stronger and things can get a little fast for him at times, but he looks like a guy who could take off with more experience.
Lewis Caregeor, Gain Elite Minnesota
Caregeor is an impact big man on both ends of the floor. He’s limited offensively when it comes to making moves in the post or trying to create his own shot, but he’s outstanding as a rim-runner, diving off screens and finishing around the rim. His ability to rebound in and out of his area is impressive and he’s capable of being a high-level defensive piece because of his athletic tools and motor.
Devin Yeager, D1 Minnesota Prospects – Chase
Yeager is a rangy, athletic forward who looks like a guy who could bust out next year at St. Cloud Tech. He’s 6-foot-5 and just kind of glides up and down the floor. He’s an excellent finisher in traffic because of his ability to play through contact and elevate off two feet. He showed Sunday that he’s capable of guarding at a high level on the perimeter as well as on the inside.

St. James is a team that should be much-improved in 2020-21 and Hayden Jones Hayden Jones 6'6" | PF St. James | 2022 State MN is a big reason why. He’s 6-foot-6, smooth handling and passing the ball, explosive getting to the rim and capable of guarding at least three positions. He has a good looking perimeter jumper, but he’s at his best when he’s getting into the paint and finishing or breaking down defenders for a pitch out.
