There were over 100 prospects who submitted High School, Grassroots, or Camp Highlights for review and all will be featured in an article on Prep Hoops. Check out my thoughts on the first group of 2027s and watch their film in the post from @AndrewBaxleySC on X (Twitter):

[player_tooltip player_id='2384556' first='Jahleel' last='Sanders'] begins this year's Film Room Series. Jahleel is one of the most well-rounded Point Guards in South Carolina's 2027 Class. His film showcased his comfort running the offense and making plays for others, creating shots on broken-down plays, knocking down shots when the ball comes back to him, and being impactful defensively. Sanders is one of a few players on this whom coaches should monitor closely this season.

Next up on the list is one of the biggest fall stock risers in the state. Mevold has been a hot prospect on the recruiting front because he has played a lot of basketball to continue putting himself in front of the right people and build up his highlight reels. Jack is an excellent modern-day forward, with terrific feet and feel in the post, and a consistent perimeter stroke to space the floor and keep defenses off balance.

Alec is a player who I really enjoyed watching in person this summer. His film is just as exciting, showing signs of efficient three-level scoring. He is at his best playing off the catch where he can get his quick release off on the perimeter, but he has become a lot more comfortable putting the ball on the floor to drive closeouts, hit shots off the dribble, and create for others. Elkins has one of the purest strokes you will see, and is not only one of the best perimeter shooters in the state, but one of the best mid-range scorers, too.

Another elite Lowcountry shooter who submitted his film for review is [player_tooltip player_id='2554045' first='Landon' last='Thompson']. He has really emerged this summer, including a couple of monster live events to get him on the radar of college coaches. I was well aware of how prolific Thompson is as a shooter, but one of the things that caught my eye more on film than when watching him live is his activity without the ball. Whether he's moving baseline to baseline, cutting into the open space in the middle of the floor, or lifting or drifting on the wings, Landon never stopped moving, even if he was open, which is something that can separate him from other Shooting Guards in his class.

Pierre's AAU highlights with [program_tooltip program_id='2842739' first='843' last='Tough'] portrayed him as an active and aggressive defensive playmaker. Despite only being listed at 6'3", he had a huge volume of rim-protection tape that outlined his solid athleticism, elite timing, and desire to defend on every possession. He was also impactful on the glass and in passing lanes, and proved to be capable of knocking down an open jumper.

Capping off this year's Film Room Series opener is [player_tooltip player_id='3219903' first='Jacob' last='Wood']. Wood submitted his film from his junior year at Hilton Head Christian, but he will play his senior season at Bluffton. I wasn't familiar with him and his game before today, but he's definitely one I will want to monitor going forward. Jacob's film showed an exciting scoring package, built around his ability to knock down perimeter shots. He looks like an elite off-the-dribble shooter, consistently hitting difficult shots from deep range. Along with the shooting, Wood looked comfortable driving and finishing with his right hand and favored a floater when going left.
