For the first time since 2021, it's a guarantee that there will be a new champion in Class 2A. And it's not because Dale has fallen off. It's because they've been bumped up to Class 3A. The Pirates are covered in the Class 3A preview.

In recent years, the Eagles have knocked on the door of a Gold Ball twice. They reached the semifinals this past season. And in 2023 were runner ups. Could this be the team to get over the hump and deliver the school their first Gold Ball? The top end talent is there for the Eagles to do just that. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='2408566' first='Carter' last='Coleman'] has already been a force the past two seasons and should be even better this winter. He also has two quality running mates that will give the opposition fits. Dynamic and athletic senior Matt Mason on his own would be capable of carrying the Eagles to a State Tournament appearance. Rounding out their expected top end plays is transfer [player_tooltip player_id='2140736' first='Drew' last='Eckel']. The senior is the ultimate glue guy as a burly guard who can help out of the glass while also shooting it at a very high clip. If they can get consistent shooting around the trio, the sky is the limit for the Eagles.

We Town's Time?

If OCA is 1A, then another semifinalist from last year might as well be 1B. The Wewoka Tigers are anchored by a pair of juniors who have been getting buckets since their freshman year. [player_tooltip player_id='2677148' first='Bill' last='Stephens'] is already a 1,000 point scorer, while also doing a little bit of everything as a savvy guard. LD Woods is a big time athlete, who also packs quite the scoring punch. Joining the "We Town" duo is a pair of experienced guards from Wilson (Henryetta), Za'brien and [player_tooltip player_id='2364389' first='Zion' last='Shelburn']. The senior duo won Class B as freshman at their previous school. Za'brien brings clutch experience as he scored 25 in that title game victory. With more promising players are their core four of guards, expect Wewoka to be in contention for their first State Title since 2016. Which was part of a back to back run for the Tigers.

Players To Watch

[player_tooltip player_id='2327618' first='Daniel' last='Creepingbear'], Senior, Riverside Indian School

One of the best scorers in the state regardless of class. Almost single handedly led a 2A State Tournament run last year and will have the Indians in contention again. Is a lethal scoring, with a bag of moves to hit tough setbacks or slice his way to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2869510' first='Kanon' last='Bradley'], Junior, Vanoss

A basketball-baseball standout. Bradley is one of the better shooters in Class 2A. Last season he helped Vanoss to 23 wins and a quarterfinals appearances.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140789' first='Ryker' last='Buckley'], Senior, Preston

Buckely has been putting up numbers since his freshman year and is already a 1,000 point scorer. He's transferred over from Kellyville and will be a nightmare for Class 2A teams to stop. Compact guard with good strength for his height and impressive all around scoring abilities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2374600' first='Swift' last='Moore'], Senior, Christian Heritage Academy

Probably the best player in 2A that not enough people talk about. The athletic wing has developed his perimeter game, making him one of the toughest match ups in the state. Also plays with a high level motor. CHA has an impressive sophomore class and talent around Moore. Making them a true contender to reach State for the first time since 2019.

Kaiden Goolsby, Senior, Latta

The Panthers return key scorers from last year's 2A State Tournament team, including Goolsby. He averaged 12.9 points and 4 rebounds. Like many small town kids, he can fill it up from deep. While also being a great all around athlete, as he's also a baseball standout.
