Combine Academy Preseason Outlook

The month of September I was able to stop by over two dozen high school practices. One of those stops was Combine Academy and this year should be in the mix as one of the top schools in North Carolina. In his first year as head coach of the National team Coach Steve Jecewiz has compiled a roster that will be highly talented competing on the national stage again in the Grind Session.

Proven Commodoties

Kendrick is no stranger to the "Hoop State" as one of the top point guards on the high school and AAU scene expect no difference in production or expectations. He is a natural point guard that brings an elite blend of speed and creativity with the ball in his hands. Kendrick has shifty handles and can score on multiple levels. He will certainly be one of the top players for this group.

Mbengue comes to Combine from the Academy of Central Florida after having a strong year there and over the summer season expect a huge senior year. Mbengue is a difference maker that impacts the game with his size, length, motor and activity level. He also showed the ability in workouts to expand his game as a capable outside shooter.

Deng was extremely productive this summer on the EYBL circut with CP3. A big that brings length and fluidness on both sides of the ball. He does not need the ball in his hands to make an impact showing a strong skillset as a rim protector and lob threat.

Newcomers

Johnson is a long and athletic player that showed really good flashes in workouts. Capable scorer on all three levels and caused disruption on the defensive end using his length.

Brown is a player that impacts the game in a variety of ways. He is a knockdown shooter that moves well without the ball. Brown showed he is super effective in the half court as a pick and pop option. He also runs the floor well and is improving as an overall defender.

Hinton is a really talented defender, a big guard that uses his size, physicality and athleticism to cause chaos on the defensive side of the ball. A high IQ player that does not over complicate his role on the court and is a capable offensive threat when needed.
