October 1-3 I attended the annual Border League. It is quickly becoming one of the premier fall events not only on the West Coast but in the country. The amount of elite players that were a part of the event was off the charts. And of course college coaches follow all the talent with them taking in the action nearly wall to wall standing room only games on some courts.

Here were the top PG's who shined when I viewed them

[player_tooltip player_id='2758274' first='Mateen' last='Cleaves Jr'] Dream City Christian EYBL

One of the top bigger PG's in the West and the country. He has that thicker frame and strength to go along with an elite pace and control of the offense and his team. He is a big time passer spraying the ball around and will score with downhill drives changing speeds well and threes off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146175' first='LJ' last='Diamond'] Perry

A bigger lead guard is hyper athletic and twitchy to burst past his defenders. He uses his strong frame and tight handle to get downhill keeping defenses on their heels. He will hit threes off the dribble or catch with deep range and still make plays plus is a top-tier on-ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146269' first='Daijon' last='Grayson'] Mesa (Pictured)

A PG has blossomed overnight and is now showing how good he really is. He scores it now with mid-range jumpers, threes off the catch or pull, reverse layups with incredible body control and high level dunks. He is also a ball hawk on defense with his size, quicker twitch and bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id='2503742' first='Madden' last='Hill'] Sequoia Prep

An athletic defensive point guard with speed, a super tight handle and toughness. He flies on the break and pesters his opponents on the ball. He will score with transition layups, dunks on the break, mid-range pull-ups and threes off the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2802608' first='Liam' last='Mitakaro'] Bella Vista Prep EYBL

A bigger lead guard is a big time shot maker. He had one of the best single games I viewed over the weekend and did it in style. He can thread the needle and is a dimer in stride. He will make shots in bunches with off the catch and off the dribble threes with huge confidence in clutch moments. He will get downhill with a sneaky burst and changes speeds well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2223500' first='Noah' last='Ondoua'] Sunnyslope

A real point guard is a tough on-ball defender with quicker feet and hands. He bothers his opponents up the court. He will make plays plus score with catch threes, pull-up from mid-range, get downhill with some speed and is tough to rebound using his frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759167' first='Taylan' last='Owens'] Canyon View

A bigger sophomore point guard is becoming a top-notch on-ball defender. He uses some strength, his size and natural speed to keep his opponents in front of them and will also score. He has a tough mid-range pull-up, he can slither down the lane with his tighter handle and will even dunk it on the break.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555180' first='Delton' last='Prescott III'] Sunnyslope

A point guard is the quintessential prototype guard of the AIA for the senior class. He is always looking to make his teammates around him better with passes ahead and drive and kicks. He has speed to burn in the open court, he gets to his spots with his tight handle and will pull-up with a tough mid-range jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='3557136' first='Aaron' last='Ona Embo'] Bella Vista Prep EYBL

Another throwback type of pure point guard. He transferred in and immediately provides elite ball handling, passing skills, the ability to break a press by himself. He will score with threes off the catch or pull, he can drive down the lane with his speed with the ball to finish or get fouled.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552765' first='David' last='Rossling'] Basha

A calm point guard who fits in perfectly with their other starters. He handles heavy ball pressure, makes smart decisions and plays between the ears. He will score it too with getting downhill using tear drops with quick bursts to the basket with either hand and playing with toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146266' first='Douglas' last='Sweatt'] Mesa

A tough hard-nosed undersized point guard is fearless, fast and highly skilled. He will guide the team when he comes in and defend his position with real fight. He is becoming more dangerous to fill it up with jumpers from mid to the three point line and bursts to the basket with his speed.
