The gym at the Community First Champion Center was packed with high-level talent, but a select group of incoming freshmen managed to completely command the floor. Featuring explosive vertical athletes, poised two-way guards, and versatile multi-level scorers, the Wisconsin Freshman Showcase offered an early look at the state's next wave of varsity contributors.   As these young prospects prepare to make their high school debuts, several individuals put together complete, evaluation-altering performances throughout the day. Here is a deep dive into seven standouts from the Appleton showcase who boosted their stock and set the tone for the upcoming season.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading"></h3>    Thompson is set to be a major force for West Allis Central this season. The 6'5” wing showed a knack for creating opportunities for both himself and his teammates in space. He did the bulk of his damage with his back to the basket, leveraging guard post-ups and showing off a polished mid-range game with smooth fadeaways over either shoulder. When Thompson got into a rhythm, defenses were forced to send double teams just to slow him down. Equally impressive was his relentless defensive activity, consistently making high-motor, multiple-effort plays.     Edwards stood out as one of the most complete, polished players in attendance. Boasting a long, athletic 6'5” frame, the West Allis Central prospect effortlessly navigated to his spots on the floor. His lethal combination of athleticism and skill created constant mismatches for opposing defenses. When fully locked in, Edwards proved to be a multi-dimensional threat capable of scoring efficiently from all three levels. Expect to see his game transition seamlessly to the varsity level. Edwards will be making noise in no time in the Woodland Conference.     Guyton acted as an absolute catalyst for his squad, setting the tone with his fierce competitive edge. Defensively, he picked up ball-handlers full court, suffocating opposing guards and forcing bad decisions. Offensively, he added high-value plays by crashing the glass, throwing pinpoint advance passes in transition, and fearlessly attacking the rim regardless of rim protectors in the paint. His high-octane motor and nose for the ball translate seamlessly to the next level.     Baylor impacted the game on both ends with his massive 6'7” frame and endless motor. A premier help defender, he altered shots in the paint while dominating the glass to create second-chance points. What separates Baylor is his surprisingly tight handle and ball security for a player his size—frequently snatching rebounds and leading coast-to-coast fastbreaks himself to give his team an immediate numbers advantage. This skilled big man has a lot of potential ahead of him.     Fresh off a standout summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2391400' first='Team' last='Herro'], the 6'5” wing arrived with something to prove. Webb established his dominance in the paint early, combining shiftiness off the bounce with strong body control to shield off defenders. Recognized as the most explosive prospect at the showcase, he repeatedly wowed the crowd with high-flying, above-the-rim finishes and emphatic dunks. Webb is a high-upside prospect to watch closely this season.     Jackson gave Team 14 a reliable steady hand at point guard, controlling the tempo with poise and court vision. He struck a great balance between setting up the offense and hunting his own shot, punishing defenders from beyond the arc with a lightning-fast catch-and-shoot release. His ability to blend playmaking with perimeter scoring kept the defense on its heels all day. Expect to hear him make some noise in the Midwest Classic Conference very soon.     Logan delivered a versatile two-way performance at the Freshman Showcase, proving his worth both on and off the ball. Operating with great pace and strong shot selection, the Beloit Memorial combo guard seamlessly weaponized his long frame and elite lateral quickness to lock down opposing guards on the perimeter. His combination of agility, positional length, and two-way impact marks him as a standout young guard to monitor.
