Why Redento and Carpenter Deserve More Recruiting Buzz

Glenbard North top 10 2027 duo Oturo Redento Oturo Redento 6'6" | SF Glenbard North | 2027 State IL and Lamari Carpenter Lamari Carpenter 6'4" | SG Glenbard North | 2027 State IL are two of the best wings in the senior class.  For whatever reason their recruitment does not reflect that with both not getting the kind of attention they should be on the trail.  We caught up with both of them at The EXPO: Illinois to discuss their games, summer, and recruitment.

Oturo Redento Oturo Redento 6'6" | SF Glenbard North | 2027 State IL is a wing with positional size that is the ultimate Swiss Army Knife in the state.  He does a little bit of everything as an athletic two way wing.  Solid jump shooter, elite connective passer, high level rebounder, and defends multiple positions.  Can get to the rack off the bounce.  We chatted with him about his summer.

“It went pretty good.  I picked up a couple of offers and played really good competition with the Wolves and school ball.”

His high school team will once again be the 1-2 duo of Redento and Carpenter.

“Playing with him since fourth grade that has really built chemistry on and off the court.”

He described his game for those who have not seen him.

“I would say I am pretty versatile being able to play the wing, point guard sometimes, and play all positions.”

What is going on with recruiting?

“I have one D2 offer from Metro State Denver along with interest from Stone Hill and Western Michigan.”

Lamari Carpenter Lamari Carpenter 6'4" | SG Glenbard North | 2027 State IL is a wiry two guard that can also play some on the ball.  His ability to create his shot and knock them down at a high clip is what makes him so intriguing.  Feathery pull up game elevating both in the mid-range and from three.  Three level scoring potential and has instincts on the defensive end as well.

What is Carpenter focusing on in his development at this time?

“My point guard skills I have been working on because at the next level that is what I am going to have to be.”

The guard currently holds one D1 offer with interest from several others.

“I recently picked up an offer from Long Island.  I like the program.  They are great guys.”

SIU-Edwardsville and SEMO are a pair of programs showing interest that have yet to pull the trigger on an offer.
