Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase | Team 7 Evals

There are many great days across the busy Indiana High School Basketball schedule. However, few compare to our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. On Sunday, September 6th at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club we hosted nearly 250 of the best underclassmen in the state. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting individual evaluations of every prospect in attendance, highlighting top performers, introducing new names, and much more. Here are the prospect evaluations for Team 7 from the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.   ***As you can imagine, with nearly 250 prospects, we are bound to miss someone. If your team's evaluation article gets posted and you were NOT included please connect with Brandon Ramsey on Twitter or via email at coachbrandonramsey@gmail.com and he will take care of the mistake.***    Our first group of freshmen that we will take a look at for Team 7 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase starts with [player_tooltip player_id='2803547' first='Wren' last='Harris']. Coming out of Warren Central High School, Harris is a shorter guard but has long arms and legs that he is still growing into. He was a floor spacer most of the time and set some strong on-ball screens throughout the games I saw him play.     A freshman guard out of Charlestown HS, [player_tooltip player_id='2818090' first='Cole' last='Andrew'] was one of the quickest on-ball guards for Team 7 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. While he is a shorter guard at 5'6", Andrew can attack pretty well using his natural speed. He had some strong finishes, and a big part of his ability to score comes from the IQ he plays with.     One of the top freshman prospects at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase on Sunday was, without question, [player_tooltip player_id='3686537' first='Markiss' last='Northern'] of South Bend St. Joe. You probably would not have found a guard in the gym who was as shifty, explosive, and dynamic as him. His ball-handling ability is elite and allows him to split the defense on his way to the basket. It won't be long before he is one of the top players in the northern Indiana area.     One of the players that I came away most impressed with over the weekend at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase was [player_tooltip player_id='3761573' first='DJ' last='Freije'] of Heritage Christian HS. For Team 7, he was one of the more productive players I watched because of just how aggressive he was when looking to make a play. He finished around the rim, created well with the ball in his hands, and competed on defense.     While he is on the shorter side right now, [player_tooltip player_id='2860466' first='Luke' last='McKaig'] already has a real stocky build to him. McKaig was one of the better guards for Team 7 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and was willing to play through contact from the defense. Besides being a willing attacker, I thought he also spaced the floor pretty well.     One of the better forwards that I got a chance to watch at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase was Cach Clegg out of St. Xavier HS. Clegg is a 6'4" forward who is naturally strong, and he already uses that to his advantage. He was one of the better offensive rebounders I watched throughout the day and was easily the best post defender for Team 7. I really like his size and the tools he already has around the basket on both ends.     A player who really stood out almost right away due to his size was [player_tooltip player_id='3726161' first='Tristan' last='Acuff'] out of North Central Farmersburg. At 6'5", Acuff is naturally athletic while also being pretty shifty for his size and length. He was also one of the more willing rebounders I saw throughout the day. A very interesting prospect with intriguing physical tools.     A player out of Warren Central HS who was on Team 7 at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase was [player_tooltip player_id='2806265' first='Jeremy' last='Chaney']. At 5'11", Chaney is a shorter yet stocky guard in the backcourt. He is really strong on the drive and has some sneaky explosiveness with the ball in his hands.     A very intriguing prospect that I had a chance to watch for Team 7 on Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase was [player_tooltip player_id='3726789' first='Braiden' last='Baker'] from Evansville North. Baker is a long 6'0 player that has good bounce and can play a little both on and off the ball. He was shifty at times on the ball and showed a nice floater from time to time. Strong first step off the wing as well.     If you want to talk about a point guard that just understands how to be a true point guard, [player_tooltip player_id='3762247' first='Emmitt' last='Neely'] out of Warsaw HS fits that billing. Yes, he may be on the smaller side, but his IQ makes him stand out on the floor. Was real sharp with his ball fakes, being a facilitator, and scoring when needed to. One to watch out for in the coming years.
