PH Indiana Freshman Showcase | SW Indiana Prospects, Pt. 2

The Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Camp brought together a talented group of 2030 prospects from across the state for an opportunity to compete and showcase their abilities. Southwest Indiana was well represented, with several prospects making their presence felt throughout the day. We take a closer look at Part Two of the Southwest Indiana standouts who caught our attention with their performances: A key member of a loaded Evansville Memorial 2030 class, [player_tooltip player_id='3669288' first='Cooper' last='Barnett'] is a smooth guard that impacts the game without having to score. Really good shooter that's comfortable off the catch or off the dribble. Really love his playmaking on the ball. Operates well in the pick and roll and understands angles to get in the lane and create. Plays with patience getting two feet in the paint and live the way he uses ball fakes. Should get early minutes on the varsity for a young Evansville Memorial Tigers team. Steady guard out of Loogootee that showed offensive versatility at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase. Comfortable playing on or off the ball, [player_tooltip player_id='2869101' first='Knox' last='Jeffers'] is a really skilled offensive talented that scores it in a variety of different ways. Tempo pushing guard that thrives in the open floor. Really good reading the defense and making the right play whether it's score it or find open teammates. Good three-point shooter, but is best when he is on the attack off the dribble and showed a craftiness to his finishing ability around the basket. I expect him to get varsity action this season and be a key member of the Loogootee Lions backcourt. Skilled 2030 guard out of Evansville Mater Dei that was really good on both ends of the floor at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase. [player_tooltip player_id='3664519' first='Matteo' last='Mallory'] is as good of a lead guard as there is in the 2030 class in Southwest Indiana. Confident with the ball in his hands. He does an excellent job balancing scoring and facilitating. Shifty guard that gets to his spots well and plays under control. Takes what the defense gives him while showing soft ouch on his floater and nice finishing ability around the rim. Has a chance to be a Day 1 Starter for Evansville Mater Dei this season. Possibly the best long term prospect in the Evansville 2030 class, [player_tooltip player_id='3694039' first='Brody' last='Overton'] of Evansville Mater Dei is a nice blend of size and skill. Big time defensive presence with good length and mobility to be a switchable defender and disruptive in passing lanes as well as a rim protector. Showed the skill to be able to rip and run off the defensive glass. Showcased a soft touch around the basket finishing with both hands. Really nice shooter off the catch and a real threat out of the pick and roll with good hands and footwork. Should get majority minutes on the varsity for an Evansville Mater Dei team that has the chance to win big this season. Another player that is in contention as the best long term prospect, [player_tooltip player_id='3694067' first='Jett' last='Swanson'] is a 6'4” Wing that has so much untapped potential. Long wing that impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Versatile defender that plays with a high IQ and always seems to be in the right position. Offensively he has the length and size to play inside out. He's not the quickest or most athletic player on the court, but does a good job getting to his spots. Has a bit of an unorthodox game in his movements. Shot the ball well from three, but love his potential as a scorer in the midrange and around the basket utilizing his size. Day 1 starter for a young Evansville Memorial team that has a chance to lead the Tigers in scoring this season.
