Minnesota Sophomore Showcase: 3 on 3 Player Notes

A 6'5 skilled wing that I thought made a really nice impression. Shot the ball at the top arc hitting a few threes and has good strength and skill for a wing. Seems like the type of player that has matured physically and could have a nice winter at whatever level he competes at. Showed some really good low post finishing when he got touches there in 3v3 too, physial finishes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2917657' first='Ethan' last='Payne'] of Park of Cottage Grove. Ethan has addd a lot of weight, and looks a bit taller. I would say he is about 6'7 (hair included) and about 220 pounds. A load of a player his age and he moves pretty well at that size. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2875365' first='August' last='Zirnhelt'] of Cretin-Derham Hall. August is a 6'3 wing that did a great job attacking the rim and finishing at the cup. Beat his man off the dribble, good lift into the finish, and a physical approach to beat bigger help defenders. Physically looks like a guy you could see help the Raiders in the next year or two. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Noal Usha of Centennial. Usha is about a 6'6 forward that screams potential. He has a good frame, Noal moves well, seems to have some perimeter comfort and overall it's a good combination of things for potential, just needs to learn to play basketball and Usha could help the Cougars. There is promise to him. Had one of the better help over blocks we saw on the day. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2848213' first='Thomas' last='Covert'] of Wayzata. Thomas was challenged by a bigger and more agile player, and Thomas took things right at that player with success. He physically got to the rim and scored, Thomas hit a three over the top followed by another and then another, and then he scored on a reverse attack. Stands about 6/3'6'4 and is a pretty strong kid as a sophomore. Looks to be a name to watch for the future [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last='']. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Adam Regino Jr of Minnehaha Academy. Regino was an intriguing player to watch. Was going by younger players to physically finish and hit a three as well. A very good athlete at 6'4/6'5 that has the potential to help the state champs in some way. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
