How Team 10 Dominated the Sophomore ID Camp

There are many great days across the busy Indiana High School Basketball schedule. However, few compare to our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. On Sunday, September 6th at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club we hosted nearly 250 of the best underclassmen in the state. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting individual evaluations of every prospect in attendance, highlighting top performers, introducing new names, and much more.   Here are evaluations of team 10, and specifically, how they dominated the 5v5 portion of the Sophomore ID Camp.   ***As you can imagine, with nearly 250 prospects, we are bound to miss someone. Tall and possessing long arms, he is a good defender and can be hard to guard due to his height and size. Made an early three-point shot in the first game, added a 3 in the third game too, where he really came alive. In the third game, had a good dribble-and-drive to the rim for an easy 2. He is a good rebounder.     [player_tooltip player_id='2888361' first='Mekhi' last='Gillis'] is a serious problem for opponents on defense. Gillis can slide his feet laterally, guard without fouling and uses his wingspan to stay parallel to his opponent and plays with good balance. Slides his feet laterally without turning his shoulders in space and maintains a good cushion. Comfortable off and on the ball on offense.     [player_tooltip player_id='2409538' first='Liam' last='Bazin'] was arguably the most impressive player in all three games just from a matter of effort and contributions on both ends of the floor. Very good on-the-ball player who is ahrd to contain. Bazin made a clutch free throw to tie the game at the end of regulation. He is a high-effort player who chases down loose balls and displays good awareness on the court. Bazin is a good defensive player who had a couple of steals, and on offense he can drive through contact to the basket very aggressively and use his opposite hand for layups.     [player_tooltip player_id='3040512' first='Owen' last='Coomes'] really stood out on defense initially with his quick hands, ability to be feisty in transition and nose for the ball. Got better as the day went on. He really came alive on offense starting in the second half of game 1, where he flashed good three-point shooting range, excellent form and made a couple of nice passes. During game 3 he made a crazy behind-the-back layup in the first half. Coomes can penetrate and kick the ball out to find an open teammate at the arc. Had a steal in the second half of game 3 and made a couple of wide-open 3-point shots.     [player_tooltip player_id='2931010' first='Garrett' last='Wilson'] is a good guard who can push the ball up the floor and makes good decisions in transition, finding open shooters and displaying good awareness on the court. He had a couple of steaals, where he flashed good instincts and ability to read-and-react on the move. Did better with protecting the ball in Game 2.     [player_tooltip player_id='2905560' first='Weston' last='Music'] had a good first game, but he was much better in game 2. He displays extremely good effort on defense, bringing intensity that excites the group and diving after loose balls and creating turnovers. On offense, he flashed ability to spin off contact, stay balanced and make open shots even over tall defenders.     [player_tooltip player_id='3590671' first='Cameron' last='Wymer'] is a very good passer. He is quick to find uncovered teammates, slip the ball to them in transition and make no-look passes appear easy. Like some of his other teammates, his efforts on offense turned a corner during game 2, where he flashed good range on three-pointers and good follow-through on his shooting form. Made a couple of good mid-range jumpers. Plays hard and with intensity.     [player_tooltip player_id='2630124' first='Trey' last='Hardaway'] came out of the 3v3 period looking just as excited and fired up during the 5-on-5. Hardaway, on top of being a great player who can dominate the paint and snatch the ball out of the air on rebounds, really showcased his intangibles during the 5v5 session: leadership, encouraging every one of his teammates even after they made mistakes, and constantly communicating on the court.     [player_tooltip player_id='3198353' first='Evan' last='Bourland'] first caught my attention during the 3-on-3 period. He flashed very good range, hitting a couple of big 3s. He is more of a catch-and-shoot guy who didn't really get to showcase his ability to move around and dribble. Big-bodied defensive player who can play inside.
