The athletic utility guard was in attack mode from the opening tip, showcasing a blend of skill, quickness, and strength that make him tough for opposing guards to contain on his way to the rim. Whitaker knocked down open shots when given time and space while consistently applying his athletic tools with his tough-nosed mindset in the floor game. Productive as a freshman a season ago, Whitaker looks poised to take another step forward for the Lakers this year.

Among the more highly-touted prospects in the field, Brooks made the trip up from Miami with his Skyline Boys team and made a clear impression on the DMV crowd in attendance. The southpaw was effective generating offense from each level of the floor, stretching the defense with deep range beyond the arc as a pullup shooter before showing his ability to get north/south off the dribble and finish around the cup. He plays with a blend of confidence and control along with an advanced sense for how to use his body to create space for clean looks. Considered among the top sophomore guards in the country, Brooks made it clear why he's already on the radar of high-major programs and has been invited to next weekend's USA Basketball junior minicamp.

Gonzaga used the second half of its matchup with Boys Latin to gets its reserves some extended run and Braxton seized the opportunity to show why he's a candidate for the varsity rotation this year after biding time on JV as a freshman. Braxton announced himself in a big way with arguably the play of the day, throwing down a massive dunk in transition that displayed eye-catching quick-twitch leaping ability. He showed a blend of grace and explosion as a slasher in the halfcourt along with a smooth free throw stroke that pointed to potential as a floor-spacer off the catch. It may not be time yet for Braxton to step into a marquee role but the young swingman should definitely be heard from in the future in a real way.

Schneeberg was among the more varsity-ready freshmen in the DMV last year, making it easy to understand why he looks the part of a season vet despite being early in his sophomore year. The jumbo guard was effective in Saturday's win over Central Dauphin (PA) while filling in gaps as a valued connector on both ends of the floor. He helped get the Quakers out to an early lead by using his active hands and deceptively quick feet to force turnovers on the defensive end. Offensively, he showed mature pace as a ballhandler along with increasingly consistent ability to punish defenses for leaving him open behind the arc. Schneeberg may not blow you away athletically but his polish and versatility make him one of the more enticing young prospects in the region.

Part of a talented core of sophomores looking to reap the benefits from extended experience as freshmen, Pitts displayed his smooth offensive arsenal in a double-figure effort against Gonzaga (DC). The rangy scoring guard made his biggest impact from beyond the arc, showing confidence and polished mechanics on a number of advanced quick-release attempts off the catch. He also showed good poise as a secondary ballhandler while using his size and length to make some clean reads over the top of smaller defenders. Pitts will benefit on both ends of the floor if he can start adding strength to his slender frame but his offensive game is potent enough as is to do plenty of damage already.
