Top new Wings from 2028 Rankings Update

Our 2028 rankings update saw almost 30 players make their debut in our rankings this week and in this article I'll break down six wings who cracked the list.    The CMAC always has athletic wings who can fly around and play above the rim and Sheppard could be the next star wing from the conference. After scoring over six PPG as a sophomore, Sheppard looks like a prime breakout candidate this winter. Sheppard's athleticism gives him the potential to put on a highlight-reel performance anytime he steps on the court and he had some big games for Moss Elite 16 U this summer. Expect Sheppard to be a household name in Cincinnati by the end of the winter.     You know when you watch a player from Newark you are going to get toughness, physicality and defensive unity. Newark were one of the best teams in Ohio this past season and Meister played a key role as a glue guy, averaging 4.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while starting every game. Meister also contributed to the Midwest Basketball Club MHC 16 U team that won the Summer Live tournament. I expect Meister to play a more prominent offensive role this season but the impact he made in ways that don't show up on the box score are where Meister separates himself.     Ohio Bruins are another program who had a strong 16 U season on the MHC and Hess was one of their most important players. Another player who plays taller than his listed height, Hess is tougher than a $5 steak in the paint. Grabbing rebounds consistently over taller players, Hess aggressiveness and determination in the paint is a key aspect of his game. Hess played a major role for Saint Edward as a sophomore last season as a glue guy, providing an impact as a rebounder and defending multiple positions. Another prospect who should see his offensive role increase as a junior, Hess could emerge as a notable name in northeast Ohio this winter.     A prospect who moved to central Ohio, Habing was a prospect I got to see for the first time at midwest live and then again shortly after at MHC Summer Session I for the championship winning Midwest Basketball Club MHC 16 U team. Habing is an athletic wing who can play above the rim, rebound and has good positional size. On a Big Walnut team with a lot of skill and shooting, Habing provides a nice change of pace with his explosive athleticism and interior scoring ability.     Moore Jr was a player I heard a lot about from the Glenville coaches after my last update as a player I needed to check out for the rankings. I was able to catch Glenville at Midwest Live as the two time defending state runner-up in Division IV have a talented squad once again this season. Moore Jr impressed with the Tarblooders this summer with a strong frame, active hands and a handful of transition buckets. Expect to continue to hear a lot about Glenville this winter with guys like Moore Jr looking to go on another deep playoff run.     Olentangy won their first district title in over 30 years last season with a strong set of sophomores and juniors who should make the Braves one of the best teams in Columbus once again. After playing an important bench role as a sophomore, Oleski should see more minutes and opportunity this winter. Oleski is an impressive perimeter shooter who can get going in a hurry with his feet set. Having some big games with his Midwest Basketball Club group this summer, Oleski has continued to get reps against live defenses consistently.
