Sophomore ID Camp: Team 3 Prospect Breakdown

With the 2029 class in full attendance last weekend, the Sophomore ID Camp in Aurora provided a chance to evaluate the players heading into the upcoming season. With a mix of familiar names and new faces across the camp, we're shifting our focus from individual first looks to team evaluations. Here's a look at Team 3 and a breakdown of each player.    Smaller guard who plays with good activity and a willingness to impact the game in different ways. Liked his nose for the ball on the glass, consistently finding ways to crash for rebounds despite his size. Showed good defensive instincts as a help defender, along with quick feet and active hands. Also showed some passing feel in the open floor and making the extra pass to create better looks.     Showed good defensive activity and the ability to slide with drivers and make plays from the help side. Offensively, found plenty of opportunities to shoot from beyond the arc, showing a good catch-and-release and willingness to take open looks. Also showed confidence pulling up when given space, but shot-making remains a developing skill as he looks for more consistency from the perimeter.     Athletic guard with a well-rounded skill set and plenty of traits to build on. His length and activity stood out on both ends, helping him impact the offensive glass, passing lanes, and transition game. Showed a developing mid-range game with good touch on pull-ups while also showing the ability to attack and finish through contact. Defensively, played with good energy and tight coverage. Also showed some leadership qualities, encouraging teammates and playing with confidence in others. Williams is an intriguing and gifted player west of the Rockford area.     A clean catch-and-release three-point stroke with room to become a more consistent shooter as he gains experience. Offensively, showed good feel for playing without the ball while also using his handle to attack closeouts and create for others. Liked his willingness to play through contact and find different ways to finish around the basket. Defensively, showed active hands and the ability to slide with drivers.     A mentality to attack and put pressure on the rim, consistently getting paint touches and creating opportunities for teammates. Liked his passing feel when getting downhill, finding cutters or kicking out to open shooters. Finishing is still an area for development, but he showed the ability to absorb contact and complete plays around the basket. His defensive activity and pressure also made him an impact player on both ends.     Small guard with some plus traits, showing good pace and feel with the ball. Liked his ability to push in transition, handle through contact, and still maintain control while getting into the lane. Showed good vision as a playmaker, finding cutters and starting to recognize open shooters as the defense shifted.     Showed some quickness and creativity with the ball, using his handle to get by defenders and create in traffic. Liked his feel as a passer, including his ability to find cutters when driving. Also showed touch around the basket with a step-through and floater. Found spot-up opportunities from beyond the arc and should become more consistent as a shooter with more experience.     Mature sophomore who was arguably the MVP of the team. Played with good pace, comfort, and poise while consistently looking like one of the more composed players on the floor. Crafty and skilled finisher who can score both inside and from the perimeter, while also creating opportunities for others with the ball in his hands. His frame is projectable, and his combination of scoring ability and playmaking gives him plenty to build on. Defensively, stayed active and applied pressure. Can see Rogers making big strides throughout his high school career.     Rebounding stood out as one of his strengths, showing a willingness to compete on the glass. Defensively, played with a strong, straightforward approach and stayed engaged on the ball. Offensively, showed some value as a spot-up shooter while also displaying enough ball-handling to help lead the offense.     Post presence who showed a nose for the offensive glass and engine to run the floor. Created second-chance opportunities with his positioning, while also showing the ability to finish in transition. Served as a ball-screen setter and gave his team an interior presence.
