Shot-Makers, Slashers, and Stock Risers From Team 2

Team 2 at the Prep Hoops Georgia Sophomore ID Camp had a strong mix of young guards, skilled wings, and frontcourt upside that made this group worth tracking. What stood out was the variety of ways players impacted the floor: shot-making, paint touches, playmaking, defensive activity, open-floor scoring, and length around the rim. Some prospects showed polish, others showed flashes that need more consistency, but this team had several names with traits that can grow into real production.    Jaxon is a small lead guard who brings winning guard traits to the floor. He can shoot it, make plays off the bounce with his creativity, keep the ball moving due to his feel on the floor, and use his shiftiness to get into the heart of the defense and create looks for his teammates. What I liked was the vocal piece and teammate value. He was not just out there hunting shots; he was trying to connect possessions and impact the group. Defensively, his active hands gave him a chance to bother the ball and create pressure. There is a good guard foundation here, and as he continues to learn how to create space against size and length to create offense for himself and his teammates he will see his impact increase.     Cayden is a small guard with lead general tools that helped him to stand out early. He showed vision, paint-touch ability, and the confidence to make tough shots. He also competed on both ends, which is something I always look at with small guards. I always see if they are tenacious and have that 'dog' in them. Consistency was an area that I would like to see Cayden bring to the floor more. He was confident and heavily active and involved in 3v3 but when 5v5 started there were times he disappeared. He has to stay involved, stay aggressive with purpose, and clean up the shot selection as he forced the issues at times when he had not touched the ball. When he keeps the ball moving, attacks at the right time, and defends with edge, he becomes a much more trustworthy guard.       Yehoshua is a creative lead guard who showed shiftiness and high value as a guard who lived in the paint. He does a good job getting to his spots and making shots off the bounce. He has a shifty handle, vision , and playmaking instincts that helps him to create offense for himself and others. The scoring flashes are clear as he can score with his midi and from behind the arc. He also showed tough shot-making ability, and the ability to score inside the paint. I would like to see Yehoshua understand that every possession does not have to be difficult. When he uses his handle to create an advantage, make the simple read, and take cleaner shots, his scoring value and ability to run the show becomes much easier to trust.     Romeo is a small guard who plays on and off the ball and has a good feel of how to produce at both spots. He brings playmaking, shot-making, and the ability to create off the bounce for himself and his teammates. Several of the coaches obviously knew Romeo and kept encouraging him to be more assertive. There were times he had some really impressive stretches scoring the rock, and I was in agreement with them that he should have been more aggressive. He can touch the paint, make good reads, and score it well from all levels especially from behind the arc. He competes on both ends of the floor as offensively he showed he can organize the offense, be a primary scoring option, and compete defensively at the point of attack. As he continues to grow his game it is important that he is being stronger with the ball and more poised when pressure comes. Overall, there is a lot of promising factors when you look at his overall floor game.     Ethan was one of the most potent scoring guards in the entire sophomore portion of the camp. He brought three-ball potency, open-floor quickness, off-bounce creation, and a scoring mentality that showed up throughout the day. He scored the ball with tremendous confidence and when he found his rhythm it was difficult to slow him down. Despite being a small guard he showed that he can flat out score the rock. What helped him is that he was not just standing around waiting on catch-and-shoot looks. He created his own offense, played with energy, and made hustle plays. As he continues to grow his game it is going to be interesting to see if he will be able to keep his scoring efficiency high when teams start loading up on him and anther focus area will be making sure the shot-making stays connected to good decisions.     Kelstin is a solid wing who impacted the game in numerous ways and across the stat sheet. He showed that he can score it, create his own offense, and impact the game with more than just jumpers. He was crafty off the bounce and when finishing at the rim, showed shot-making ability, did a good job hitting gaps and getting to the cup, and was impressive making plays in the open floor. His versatility in scoring and also just finding ways to manufacture points was seen in his ability to make the midrange and provide put-back activity. Defensively, he showed active hands and with his length he was very disruptive at times. At 6'4, if the motor, rebounding, and defensive activity stay consistent, his inside-out skill set becomes very intriguing.     JaCori is one of the more intriguing long-term pieces in the sophomore portion of the camp because of his size, length, and skill flashes. At 6'8, he showed a growing skill set along with versatile scoring. He scored from all levels, but was at his best when he was getting into the heart of the defense by either the bounce or off the low block, and scoring over the top of smaller defenders as there was not much size in camp that could challenge him. There was a lot to like about his game as he showed face-up ability, passing feel for his size, inside scoring, and perimeter flashes. He also showed his ability to impact the game apart from the offensive end of the floor as he can block shots, rebound, and contest without fouling. As he continues to grow his game shot selection and his handle are two key focal points, and if those areas keep coming, his length and budding skill set give him a chance to become a very difficult matchup.
