On Sunday, August 9th, I attended PA Athletics Curry College Prospect Showcase at Curry's campus in Milton, MA. About 50 player were present for morning skills and drills and afternoon games. I saw everybody play a few times.

Read: PA Athletics Curry College Prospect Showcase First-Team

Below is my second team from the event.

I've seen Phelps play a number of times over the years and have always liked his combination of physical tools and motor. The 6-foot-8 center is long and tall, runs the floor consistently with aggression and speed, and plays the right way. He won't wow you with post moves around the rim or a beautiful outside shot, but he understands screening angles and does a good job creating easy driving lanes for his guards—he can finish pocket passes when he rolls to the rim and has improving touch around the hoop. Phelps plays at Pinkerton Academy and will likely be able to find a D3 fit because of his size and ability to work hard on both ends of the floor.

McDonald is only 5-foot-10, but he was super effective as a downhill attacker on Sunday. The rising senior has a super low center of gravity and a strong core, so he keeps his line to the rim quite well and isn't affected by contact on his hip. Once he gets to the paint, he does a great job using slow steps and ball/head fakes to throw off the defense, and his strength allows him to finish confidently at the cup. His outside shot isn't super consistent, but he can knock down enough to make the defense play him on the perimeter, which opens up his ability to drive closeouts. McDonald plays at Exeter High School and with the NE Storm, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him find a post-grad fit after this season if he doesn't like his D3 options.

Greaves was electric on Sunday. The 5-foot-10 guard is undersized, but he was the fastest and quickest player at camp. He has incredible explosiveness with the rock in his hands and was able to consistently get past defenders who pressured him in the full court. Once he got into the paint, he did a good job setting up teammates for easy looks and was also able to finish against bigger players on a number of occasions. He can also knock down the three ball and gets tons of elevation on his middy pull-up. On the other side of the ball, Greaves was the best point-of-attack defender at camp—he was a total pest on the ball and got into opposing ball handlers for 94 feet. He'll play in CT this season and should be able to find a D3 roster spot after that.

LaSalle came to Curry camp all the way from Florida, and he made a good choice. The 6-foot-1 combo-guard showcased high skill level and feel for the game—he was one of the best players in the gym in terms of making quick, decisive plays once the ball was swing to him. He can shoot the ball from three, he can finish with contact at the rim, and he knows how to use change-of-speed dribbles to throw off defenders. Defensively, he was active and handsy all day and has a knack for getting his arms in passing lanes. LaSalle didn't necessarily hit tons of shots or jump off the page, but his feel for the game was clear from the start, and he's a definite college player.

Halloran has an intriguing combination of size and skill. The rising Wachusett senior is 6-foot-5 and can make shots from the outside, but he also drives closeouts effectively and has really solid passing vision for his size once he touches the paint. He can finish with both hands, and though he won't wow you athletically, he moves well enough to effectively use his size on that end. Defensively, he guards a number of positions because of his size, length, and versatility. Halloran has a potential reclass year available and should be on the radar of D3 coaches.
