Ohio Sophomore ID Camp: Team 7 Standouts

The Prep Hoops Ohio Sophomore ID Camp was loaded with talent from Ohio's 2029 class and in this article we'll take a look at the standouts from Team 7.    On a team filled with top ranked talent, Cornell was one of the leading scorers for his team as the Dayton area guard shot the lights out from downtown. Cornell got hot in the second 5 on 5 game his team played as he was lighting it up with deep catch and shoot 3-pointers from behind the college line, pull-up 3-pointers and quick releases off the catch. Cornell had a strong freshman season at Northwestern-Springfield in the CBC, scoring 11 PPG but has made the move to Springfield high school in the GWOC, where he'll be challenged by the best talent in Dayton on a nightly basis. Great opportunity for Cornell to continue to prove himself Vs top talent!     Deloney is a part of Africentric's deep 2029 class that should have the Nubians competing for regional and state titles again either this season or next. Deloney is a talented transition athlete who has grown and built his frame over the past two seasons. Excited to see what growth Deloney can show with his skill as he continues to get adjusted to his body and height. A top wing forward in the Columbus City League, Deloney might only be a sophomore but he will be expected to be a leader for Africentric with his varsity experience from freshman year and in June with the Nubians.     One of the top ranked prospects in attendance, it is easy to see why I'm so high on Ramsey's long-term upside. Ramsey was living above the rim with a handful of lobs thrown his way and transition dunks. Ramsey also flashed some improved perimeter shooting ability. While Ramsey's bread and butter will be his rim running and shot blocking, his ability to flash perimeter shooting and defending in space could separate him from other bigs in the 2029 class.     Fortino was a top performer at our freshman showcase and continued to play like one of the top prospects in the gym this year at our sophomore ID camp. Fortino has the physical tools to be an elite perimeter defender with some steals and altered shots thanks to his length, quickness and aggressiveness. That area of the court is going to be huge for Fortino this winter as Saint Ignatius could be one of the top defensive teams in Ohio. Offensively Fortino mostly scored in transition and on 3-pointers, as his spot-up shooting will be another area of focus this winter playing off the catch for the Wildcats.     Another one of the top bigs in the 2029 class, Patterson is another prospect who attended our freshman showcase last year and our sophomore ID camp this year and was a standout at both. Patterson has quick feet and excellent length, making him a talented defender in space and able to crash the glass and score putbacks. Bishop Hartley is known for their defense and I'd expect Patterson to help protect the rim as the Hawks guards are going to be aggressive going for steals and trying to turn over the opposition.
