Let's get started.     The smart and talented upstate guard made headlines recently with his commitment to Mercyhurst. He had a huge Senior season at Pennfield helping them win a Section V title and will do a prep year at the Chesire Academy before joining the Lakers. His decision to head to the NEC seems like a great starting point for Zarzycki especially after he gets more experience playing in the NEPSAC. This addition for Mercyhurst could turn out to be a really good addition if he can continue to develop his shooting, playmaking and on ball defense.      Popotte is a Bronx native that originally turned heads when he was playing with Monsignor Scanlan. He left the Catholic High School Athletic Association to join Head Coach Tiny Morton at Lawrence Woodmere Academy. When the school ultimately closed he went down to Mount Zion to keep chasing his Division 1 dream and step up in competition. His recruitment had gone dark and quiet since leaving New York but just this past week he was in the news. The exciting NYC playmaker had announced he has committed to go to Chicago State as their only 2026 recruit. Expect him to help push that back court to the next level and it wouldn't be a surprise if he earned some court time.         Our final featured local prospects is a former Long Island standout who has been turning heads at the prep level. Seltzer has been deceloping over the past few years and has really taken the next steps in his game. He's been very reliable for WNS, he continues to add muscle to his nearly 7 foot frame plus hems fresh off a 3SSB title. His contributions were crucial in [program_tooltip program_id='2078609' first='New' last='Heights'] going all the way on the 3SSB and he really proved he belonged on the big stage. The recruitment process is also starting to pick up as he just added a new Division 1 offer from Binghamton to go along. They join Siena, Holy Cross, Iona and Detroit.     This past season Proctor made the move from Maryland to Long Island Lutheran. He was a great glue in the rotation, he was terrific defensively, made some big shots and brought a ton of energy. The rising Senior was at the top of my list for New York potential breakouts but he has made another move. Proctor will head back down south and will now attend St. James Academy. His skillset, motor, winning pedigree and versatility should grant him a few quality options when he graduates.     The LuHi floor general has been on a tear since about mid way through Junior season. He took that great momentum and has been a serious difference maker for Team Durant. His handle and athleticism allow him to get all over the court plus his shots have been falling. McKnight's a very tough cover, he's slick around the basket, tough and has great balance even when absorbing contact. This 2027 standout will be visiting Butler August 26-28th and UNLV September 11-13th, both are considered serious contenders.
