High School Spotlight: Carmel Greyhounds

The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. He is 164-62 as a head coach.</li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:list --> <ul class="wp-block-list"><!-- wp:list-item --> <li>One of the favorites to make it out of Sectional 8. </li> <!-- /wp:list-item --></ul> <!-- /wp:list --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2140341' first='Cash' last='Daniels'] </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A lot of the attention in Sectional 8 goes to Fishers, but don't overlook the Carmel Greyhounds. Fresh off a strong season that included a sectional victory over the Tigers, Carmel appears to have reloaded once again and should be firmly in the mix this year. Leading the way is senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2140341' first='Cash' last='Daniels'], the unquestioned head of the snake for the Greyhounds. Daniels returns after averaging a team-best 12.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game while serving as the engine of Carmel's offense. A lightning-quick, dynamic playmaker, Daniels has the ability to control the tempo, create for his teammates, and make big plays when his team needs them most. Everything Carmel does offensively will begin with the ball in his hands.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2887162' first='Joshua' last='Henderson'] / [player_tooltip player_id='2560400' first='Mark' last='Shostak']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There were honestly five or six players who could have been listed here, but I narrowed it down to two: senior forward Josh Henderson and junior center [player_tooltip player_id='2560400' first='Mark' last='Shostak']. Henderson will finally be eligible to suit up for the Greyhounds after transferring from University last season, giving Carmel another versatile weapon with excellent length and the ability to impact the game in multiple ways. Shostak, meanwhile, is expected to take on a much larger role after being brought along gradually over the past few seasons. The junior has continued to develop his offensive game, showing soft touch around the basket and improved overall skill, and is poised to become a key contributor in the frontcourt.
