CP3 Rising Stars National Camp: Sunday Spotlights Part 2

Sessions has the physical profile of a guard who can continue expanding his role as his game matures. At 6'3”, he has good size for the backcourt and enough versatility to create matchup problems. His ability to use that frame within the flow of the game rather than relying solely on one offensive action. His next step is turning those physical advantages into consistent production.     Scarver's size immediately gives him a presence, but what makes him worth tracking is how much room there is for his game to continue developing. At 6'7”, he can occupy space around the paint while still possessing the mobility to affect possessions away from the basket. Our live evaluation reinforced the value of his physical tools, while his continued skill development will determine how versatile his offensive role becomes. He is already receiving significant attention nationally within the class.     Harbin's size and guard skill combination caught our attention during the weekend. At 6'4”, he has the physical profile to operate against a variety of perimeter matchups, while his skill set gives him opportunities to contribute without needing constant possession of the ball. The next progression is becoming more consistent in turning those tools into efficient production and winning possessions.     Shelvin's physical profile continues to make him an interesting evaluation. At 6'4”, his size gives him flexibility in how he can be deployed, while his athletic ability allows him to play above the rim and make plays in space. My CP3 evaluation was less about projecting a finished product and more about recognizing the tools already present. If the perimeter skill continues to develop alongside the athleticism, his ceiling becomes increasingly intriguing.     Okam gave us a good look at his ability to score from the middle of the floor. His size and comfort utilizing the mid-range give him a different offensive pathway than players who rely primarily on getting all the way to the rim or shooting exclusively from three. The key moving forward will be adding consistency and expanding the situations in which he can create that same quality of shot.     Currie brings a competitive edge to the backcourt and has shown that he is comfortable making plays with the ball in his hands. His ability to create downhill pressure gives him a way to generate offense rather than waiting for opportunities to develop. He has also already shown a willingness to compete at the high-school level, including earning Player of the Game recognition during his freshman season. The continued progression of his reads and decision-making will be important as the level rises.
