Shelvin looks like a top player in the state considering his size, athetic ability and raw basketball talent. He can just flat out play the game and thrives in competitive situations. He plays like a grown man and leaves finesse for the others. Shelvin is a full court competitor that thrives when competition is at its peak, and he is a visible alpha that gives others around him confidence. He embraces the physical part of the game and that will surely lead him to a highly productive freshman season. He is a high-flyer that will surely make the weekly highlight reels, but watching a full game you will see that this kid is a gamer. Shelvin is next up.
Shelvin’s physical profile continues to make him an interesting evaluation. At 6’4”, his size gives him flexibility in how he can be deployed, while his athletic ability allows him to play above the rim and make plays in space. My CP3 evaluation was less about projecting a finished product and more about recognizing the tools already present. If the perimeter skill continues to develop alongside the athleticism, his ceiling becomes increasingly intriguing.
Shelvin has shown next-level potential and is an early favorite among the top players in the state. Beyond his size and athleticism, he has a strong competitive drive. His recent offer from Boston College is early proof of his trajectory. He spent the showcase proving that he is just as advertised, and pushing the competitive energy in the gym. His talents also transition to the gridiron, and he looks like the next big two sport athlete that Louisiana is well known for.
Kadyn Shelvin is an early candidate for the top prospect in the 2030 class, and if you have watched him compete, it is incredibly easy to understand why. Size, skill, and athleticism are the most obvious physical traits Shelvin possesses, but what makes him special is how he matches those gifts with a high-level motor. He is a walking highlight reel who has already adopted that aggressive, hard-nosed Louisiana mentality on the hardwood. Shelvin is an undeniable talent, and this spotlight will surely be just the first of many mentions for this rising young star.
