College Commitment – Eli Hopkins (2027 Southridge)

The Class of 2027 is starting to take themselves off the recruiting board. Add Eli Hopkins Eli Hopkins 6'7" | SF Oregon City | 2027 State OR from Southridge to those who have decided on where they'll be starting their collegiate careers. The athletic 6-foot-7 swingman announced on Monday that he'll be taking his talents to Southern California after his high school career is over as he's made a commitment to Point Loma Nazarene.

"The belief and vision that the coaches have for me is a big part of my commitment," Hopkins said. "I like the location of PLNU being right on the ocean. Also (head coach Justin) Downer is an elite coach. They are planning to develop me into a primary ball handler and their style of play is similar to what we have been doing offensively at Southridge."

Point Loma Nazarene first got in contact with Hopkins after seeing him play in Section 7 in Arizona and recently started to amp things up with their recruitment of him. Hopkins went down to for a visit and it there in Downer's office that the scholarship offer was made. Hopkins had previously received offers from Western Oregon and St. Martin's and had interest from other schools but PLNU was the best fit.

"It was definitely the right time for me," Hopkins said. "It's definitely a relief to be done with my recruitment. My focus now is to get my knees healthy and be ready to contend for a ring this season."
